THROUGH

1. SUPPLYING WHOLESOME AND SAFE CHICKEN MEAT AND EGGS TO CONSUMERS AT REASONABLE PRICES;

2. BEING COMPETITIVE IN THE LOCAL AND EXPORT MARKET IN THE CURRENT GLOBAL MARKET SCENARIO

3. APPLYING MODERN HUSBANDRY & ANIMAL WELFARE PRACTISES TOWARDS EFFICIENT PRODUCTION.

4. FARMING IN AN ENVIRONMENT FRIENDLY and BIOSECURE MANNER;



What we need to do: -

Ensure Poultry farming and processing is in harmony with the environment

Raise Production efficiency of the industry to be at par with the world standard

Build Consumer confidence local products are free from residues and contaminants

Make our poultry products sold locally good enough for export.



Encourage Modernization of farms

Automated closed house system built and managed

correctly

Environment friendly operation is the norm and not the

exception.



AREAS NEEDING STIMULUS FOR CHANGE

Promote centralized poultry processing more aggressively

1. Increased product recovery –(skin/MDM)

2. Improve hygiene standards to meet local and export requirements

3. Stabilize supply and demand fluctuations

4. More environment friendly operation

5. Halal assurance



ROLE OF THE FLFAM:-

Improve Producers’ commitment to maintain Good Agricultural practices and Bio-security and compliance with relevant Laws;

Advocay for facilitation of land use conversion and licensing with Federal and State Governments;

Keeping in communication with various Authorities towards achieving the industry’s vision on transformation.



LAWS THAT HAVE DIRECT IMPACT ON INDUSTRY: -

Animals Act 1953 (Revised 2006);

The Feed Act 2009;

Food Act 1983;

Environmental Quality Act 1974;

Local Government Act 1976;

Control of Supplies Act 1961;

Price Control and Anti-Profiteering Act 2011;

Animal Welfare Act (to be tabled in Parliament).



Positive Factors for the Poultry Industry

Malaysia has a recognized competent Veterinary

Cooked products increasingly accepted

Free from HPAI

Has motivated entrepreneurs
