•GRAND MOTHER TOLD…

• In ancient times letters were delivered by pigeons and by horsemen. There were no trains and buses.

•It would take months and years to go to a foreign land. There were no airplanes.

•It was extremely difficult to find out about the well being and whereabouts of the loved ones.

•She also told that animals also communicate.

•Communication, the process of transmitting and receiving ideas, information and messages has helped the development of gestures and languages. The 26 letters of the alphabet are represented by the hand held flag positions. The digits0&1 to 9 were represented by the same signals as those used for the first ten letters. This signaling by means of hand held flags was formerly used for military purposes at sea and on land. These flag positions are as -------

ANIMALS ALSO COMMUNICATE

Charles Darwin pointed the importance of communication in biological survival. For example, when bees discover a source of nectar ,they reveal its location to the other bees on returning to the hive. They communicate the distance by means of a dance, the direction by the angle of the axis of the dance and the amount of nectar by the vigorousness of the dance.

DATA COMMUNICATION-COMPUTERS

Data communication is a revolution in communications.Modern computers are based on the concept of binary digits, known as bits, that can only take values of 0 & 1.With all of the data stored and manipulated within a computer being held in the form of bits, any data transfer between computers also involves sending bits from one place to another.A stream of digits sent from one computer has to be reassembled into meaningful information.

Since their arrival on the market in the late 1970s, desktop computer systems have revolutionized business. Computers can also aid the research and compiling aspects of school projects, and many teachers also incorporate the machines into the learning process. A primary advantage of computers is the amount of information they offer via networking to a wide range of databases. The graphics these students are studying represent only one of the many options and capabilities offered by today’s educational software.
