Thispolicyappliestohiringforallpositionsandadmissionofallstudentsintoallprograms.Studentswithspecialneedssuchasphysicalormentalhandicapsorlearningdisabilitiesareconsideredforadmissionprovidedtheymeettheentrancerequirements.TheChiefAcademicOfficerisresponsibleforacceptingstudentsanddeterminingwhetherapplicants,includingthosewithspecialneeds,canbenefitfromthetraining.
FACILITYANDEQUIPMENTDESCRIPTION
WorldofBeautyAcademyislocatedinthecityofOrlando,Floridaat6111W.ColonialDriveOrlando,FL32808onthecornerofW.ColonialDriveandNNowellStreet.Itiseasilyaccessiblebypublicorprivatetransportation,withadequatefacilitiesforfacultyandstudents.Ourfacilityoccupiesapproximately3000squarefeetandcontainsareceptionarea,2offices,2bathrooms,astudyareawithasmallresourcecenter,8nailstations,2spachairsand8manicuretables.Thereare4classroomsandacafeteria.Theschoolisfullyair‐conditionedtoprovideacomfortablelearningenvironment.
Thelatestequipmentisavailableon‐sitetoallowahands‐ontrainingapproachinallprograms.Thefacilityandequipmentusedfullycomplieswithallfederal,stateandlocalordinancesandregulations,includingrequirementsforfiresafety,buildingsafety,handicappedaccessandhealth.
RESOURCECENTER
Theschoolhasasmallresourcecenteroncampusopentostudents.Studentshaveaccesstoreferencetextsandmaterialsusefulincompletingtheprogramofstudy.Materialsaretobeusedoncampusandareavailableduringnormalclasshours.Thesetextsbooksprovideadditionalinformationonessentialskillsandprocedureswithbibliographicalreferencesandindexes,andwillcomplementourprogramsbypracticallysupportingandreinforcingtheinstructiongiveninclass.Studentsmaycheckoutreferencebooksbycompletinga“BookCheckoutForm”.Allbooksandpublicationsareofcurrentuse.AccesstotheInternetisencouragedtoresearchadditionalsourcesandup‐to‐dateinformation.

Fortheprotectionandwelfareofallstudentsandstaff,theschoolhasestablishedthefollowingdrug‐freepolicy.Allstudentsareherebynotified:
1. Thattheunlawfulmanufacture,distribution,possession,oruseofacontrolledsubstanceintheschoolisprohibited;2. Thatviolationsofthisprohibitionwillresultindischargeorotherappropriateactions;3. Thatasaconditionofenrollment,eachstudentagreesthathe/shewillabidebythetermsoftheabovestatement,andwillnotifytheSchoolDirectorofanycriminaldrugstatuteconvictionforaviolationoccurringinschoolnolaterthanfivedaysaftersuchconviction;4. Allemployeesandstudentsmustcertifythat,asaconditionofenrollment,employment,orreceivingoffinancialaid,he/shewillnotengageintheunlawfulmanufacture,distribution,dispensation,ortheuseofacontrolledsubstanceduringtheperiodcoveredbyemploymentortheperiodwherefederalfinancialassistanceisusedforeducation;5. ADMISSIONSPOLICY
Requirements:ONLYFORMassageTherapy&Cosmetologycourses
✓ Applicantsmustpresentevidenceofahighschooldiploma,highschoolcertification,orGED.
✓ Applicantswhodonothaveahighschooldiploma,highschoolcertificationorGEDandare17 yearsofageoroldermustdemonstratetheabilitytolearnfromtheprogramofinstruction.ApplicantsmustpasstheWonderlicBasicSkillsTestwithaminimumverbalscoreof200andaminimummathscoreof210.
✓ Applicantsmustreceiveacatalogoneweekpriortosigninganenrollmentagreement.
✓ Applicantsmustcomplywiththe"DrugFree"Schoolpolicy.
Requirements:PermanentMake‐Up
✓ Applicantsmustbe18yearsofageorolder.
TheSchoolDirectorhastheresponsibilitytoreviewandapproveanenrollmentagreementandtoensurethattheapplicanthasmetthepropercriteriainaccordancewithadmissionstandards.
PotentialstudentswillbeadvisedthatemploymentinmanyoccupationsnecessitatestheabilitytopasstheFloridaDepartmentofLawEnforcement(FDLE)CriminalBackgroundCheck.IfnotaFloridaresidentforthepast5consecutiveyears,anFBIinvestigationisrequired.Potentialstudentswithsuchproblemswillbehelpedwithexemptionproceduresifapplicable,andifnot,theyarestronglyadvisedtoregisterforprogramswheretherewillbeemploymentopportunitiesavailable.
Prospectivestudentswhoweredeniedadmission,andwouldliketoviewtheirfile,maysubmitawrittenrequest.Accesstoviewthefilewillbegrantedwithin24to48hoursoftherequest.

TRANSFEROFCREDIT
WorldofBeautyAcademyhastherighttoacceptordenythetransferofclockhours/creditsreceivedfromanotherschool.Thegrantingofcreditforpriorlearningorexamscannotexceedseventyfivepercent(75%)ofanyprogram.ProgramsandtuitionwillbeadjustedaccordingtothenumberofhoursacceptedbyWorldofBeautyAcademy.AnystudentwhobeganaprogramatWorldofBeautyAcademyandwishestotransfertoanotherprogramwillreceivecreditforcoursespassedandhavehis/hertuitionadjustedaccordingly.StudentswhotransferoutofWorldofBeautyAcademytoanotherinstitutionmayreceivetheirtranscriptreflectingtheirhoursandgrades,providingthatallfinancialobligationstoWorldofBeautyAcademyhavebeenmet.Theacceptanceofthetransferabilityofcreditsisthedecisionofthereceivinginstitution. WorldofBeauty Academydoesnotrecognizeacquiredlifeexperienceandpriorexperientiallearningasaconsiderationforenrollmentorgrantingcredittowardsanyofitsprograms.WorldofBeautyAcademydoesnothaveanarticulationagreementortransferagreementwithanyotherschool,collegeoruniversityatthepresenttime.
TRANSFERCREDITPOLICY/PROCEDURE
WorldofBeautyAcademywillconsidercreditsfromotherinstitutionsaccreditedbyanagencyrecognizedbytheUnitedStatesDepartmentofEducation(USDOE)ortheCouncilforHigherEducationAccreditation(CHEA).Creditstakenatotheraccreditedinstitutionsofhigherlearningmaybeacceptedas‘transfercredit’,providedthatthesecoursesareinsubjectscomparabletocoursesofferedandapplicable.‘Transfercredit’isgivenforcourseswitha“C”orbetter.TransfercreditmustbeapprovedbytheSchoolDirector.Onlyofficialtranscriptsfromotherschoolsmaybeusedtoawardcredit.Studentsmustrequestthatanofficialtranscriptfromallpreviouslyattendedinstitutionsbemailedto:WorldofBeautyAcademy6111WColonialDriveOrlando,FL32808.
✓ CompleteandsubmitaTransferofCreditApplicationtotheSchoolDirector.
✓ Provideanofficialtranscriptandcatalogwithcoursedescriptionsofthepriorpost‐secondarytraining.Officialtranscriptsarerequiredtoposttransfercredits.

GRADINGSYSTEM
Practicalworkisgradedbasedonwrittencriteriausingschool‐preparedpracticalevaluationforms.Theformspecifiesthegradingcriteriaandpointvalueforeachapplication.Eachskill/applicationhasaspecificpointvalueassignedtoit,whichisthentotaledandconvertedtoapercentage.Studentsaregradedontheoreticalknowledgeattheendofeachcourse.Afinalexaminationwillbegivenatthecompletionofeachprogram.Theexamwillconsistoftwo(2)parts:theoryandpractical.Bothportionsoftheexaminationaregradedaccordingtothefollowingscale:
A = 94% ‐ 100% 4.00 = ExcellentB = 81% ‐ 93% 3.00 = GoodC = 75% ‐ 80% 2.00 = SatisfactoryD = 70% ‐ 74% 1.00 = PoorF = 0% ‐ 69% 0.00 = Failing
Theabove‐statedgradingscalewillalsobeusedtoscorealltestsadministeredbythisinstitution.
PROGRESSREPORTS
Thestudentwillreceiveaprogramreportattheendofeachcompletedcourse.
SATISFACTORYPROGRESSSTATEMENT
Studentswillbejudgedasmakingsatisfactoryprogressbymaintainingacumulativegradepointaverage(GPA)of2.0atthemidpointofprogram.Toavoidacademicprobation,studentsmustmaintainaminimumGPAof75%oraC.Studentsmaintaininglessthana75%GPAshallbecounseledbytheirinstructor,whichwillbenotedontheirprogressreport.StudentsnotmeetingsaidconditionswillbescheduledforaconferencewiththeSchoolDirector,whichwillresultinprobation.Studentsareexpectedtobepreparedandmeetthedemandsofthecourseworktheyhavechosen.
COURSERETAKEPOLICY
Thecourseretakeisofferedtostudentswhohaveunsuccessfullycompletedacourseandreceivedlessthan75%.Astudentmayretakeacoursetwiceatnocharge.Astudentwillautomaticallybewithdrawnafterfailinganycourseintheprogramtwiceduringtheoneenrollmentperiod.Anenrollmentperiodisthetimebetweenthescheduledstartdateandthescheduledgraduationdate.

MAXIMUMTIMEINWHICHTOCOMPLETE
Studentsarenotallowedtoattemptmorethan1.5times,or150%,ofthenumberofclockhoursintheirprogramofstudy.Therequirementsfortherateofprogressaretoassurethatstudentsareprogressingatarateatwhichtheywillcompletetheirprogramswithinthemaximumtimeframe.
MEASUREMENTOFACADEMICPROGRAMS
Theschoolmeasuresallitsacademicprogramsintermsofclockhours.Aclockhourisdefinedasaminimumof50minutesofinstructionduringa60‐minuteperiodinthepresenceofaninstructor.
ATTENDANCE
Studentsareexpectedtoattendallscheduledclasses.Inordertoobtainpermissionforanexcusedabsence,thestudentmustobtainpriorpermissionfromtheinstructor.Foremergencysituations,astudentmaybringinadoctor’snote,apolicereport,acourtorder,oranyotherlegitimateexcuseinordertoobtainanexcusedabsence.Allotherabsencesareconsideredunexcused.
Studentsmaynothavemorethanfiveunexcusedabsenceswithinacalendarmonth.Afterfiveunexcusedabsences,thestudentwillbeadvisedbytheSchoolDirectorandwillbeplacedonprobationfor30days.Ifanotherun‐excusedabsenceoccursduringtheprobationperiod,thestudentwillbeadvisedbytheSchoolDirectoragain,andthestudentmaybeterminated.TheStateofFloridarequiresstudentstocompleteasetnumberofhourstograduate;therefore,allclasstimemissedmustbemadeupbythestudent(priortograduation).
TARDINESS
Studentsmustcometoclassontime.Tardinessisdefinedasarrivingmorethan15minutesafterthestartofaregularlyscheduledclass.Latearrivalsmaybeexcusedatthediscretionoftheinstructor.Onceastudenthasthree(3)unexcusedlatearrivals,thestudentmustbeformallycounseled.Acounselingsessionwilldeterminewhatactionsshouldbetakenbythestudentandtheschooltoreducetardiness.Habitualtardinessmayleadtoprobation.
MAKE‐UPWORK
Studentswhohavebeenabsentforanyreasonarerequiredtomakeupanymissedclassesbeforegraduating.Astudentmustmakeupmissedtimebyattendinganotherclassinsession.
LEAVEOFABSENCE

CONDUCTANDPERSONALAPPEARANCE
Thestudentmustattendclassescontinuouslyandcompletetherequiredtraining.
Studentsarerequiredtobecourteousandprofessionaltostaffandfellowstudents. Beveragesandfoodarenotallowedinthetrainingareas. Studentsmustpickupandcleanafterthemselves. Studentsshouldbeconsiderateofothersandthefacility. Studentsmustmakepersonalcallsoutsidetheclassroomandclassroomhours.Inthecase
ofemergencyoremployment‐relatedcalls,studentsmustgetpermissionfromtheinstructor.
DRESSCODE

TRANSCRIPTS

GRADUATIONREQUIREMENTSANDDIPLOMA
Theschoolconsidersastudentthathascompletedallhis/herrequiredprogramhoursandservicesasa“candidateforgraduation”;however,thestudentwillnotreceiveadiplomauntilhe/shecomplieswiththefollowingrequirements:
1. Attendallclasshours,completeallrequiredservicesandcompleteeachrequiredcoursemeeting,eachcourse’sminimumstandardsinadditiontoobtaininganoverallGPAof2.0orhigherand;
2. Takeandpassacomprehensivefinalexamination;and3. Fulfillallmonetaryobligationswiththeschool.
PAYMENTPOLICY

TheStudentServicesDirectorservesasaliaisonbetweenthegraduatesandthebeautyindustry.Informationonjobsearchtechniquesisprovidedtostudentsandgraduatesbasedonthecurrentneedsoflocalbusinessesandthecommunity.However,noemploymentinformationorplacementassistanceprovidedbytheschoolshouldbeconsideredeitherexpresslyorimpliedasaguaranteeorpromiseofemployment,thelikelihoodofemployment,anindicationofthelevelofemploymentorcompensationexpected,oranindicationofthetypesorjobtitlesofpositionsforwhichstudentsorgraduatesmayqualify.

CANCELLATIONANDREFUNDPOLICY:
Shouldthestudentbeterminatedorcancelforanyreason,allrefundswillbemadeaccordingtothefollowingrefundschedule:NON‐REFUNDABLEITEMS–Uniforms,LabSupplies,andBooks.
Cancellationmustbemadeinpersonorbycertifiedmail.Allmonieswillberefundediftheschooldoesnotaccepttheapplicantorifthestudentcancelswithinthree(3)businessdaysaftersigningtheEnrollmentAgreementandmakinginitialpayment.
Cancellationafterthethirdbusinessday,butbeforethefirstclass,willresultinarefundofallmoniespaidwiththeexceptionoftheregistrationfee.
