World Language Curriculum We integrate the social studies standards & content into
Kindergarten—3rd grade Spanish class. In 4th grade, some social studies & other content areas are integrated into Spanish class. All students receive 30 minutes of instruction three times in each six
day rotation. Every year your child will learn about a new Spanish-speaking area of the world. In Kindergarten, they will learn about
Cuba. In first grade, they will explore Honduras & Central America. In second grade they will learn about Mexico. In third grade,
they will focus on Spain. In fourth grade, they will learn about Peru in South America.
Units Covered in May and June
Kindergarten: Introduction to Maps: locate land & water on a map, identify maps symbols and directions on a compass rose, identify continents & parts of the world address (city, state, country, continent), locate Wisconsin, the United States, Cuba, & North America on a map Birthdays: state date of birth, months, numbers 1-31 Summer: identify symbols of summer
First Grade: Maps and Globes: interpret simple maps & globes, identify maps symbols and directions on a compass rose, identify continents, oceans & parts of the world address (city, state, country, continent), locate Wisconsin, the United States, & Honduras on a map, identify natural and cultural features of Honduras
Second Grade: Occupations: identify different jobs in the community and why we need different people to do different jobs Maps and Globes: identify map symbols, compass rose directions, borders & landforms of the U.S. & Mexico, identify continents & oceans
Third Grade: Types of Communities: identify and descr ibe urban, rural, & suburban communities Community Needs: sort places in a community, goods & services, producers & consumers, resources
Fourth Grade: History of Peru: read a timeline & a mini-book focusing on the history of Peru, describe the Inca culture: their architecture (Machu Picchu), agriculture (corn & potatoes), communication (quechua, chasquis/messengers), quipus (a way to keep records), & beliefs (Inti, the sun god)

El Plan del Idioma Mundial Integramos los estándares de estudios sociales en la clase de español en los grados de kinder hasta tercero. En el cuarto grado, algunos estándares de
estudios sociales y otras temas están integrados. Los estudiantes reciben 30 minutos de instrucción, tres veces en cada rotación de seis días. Todos los
años su niño aprenderá acerca de una nueva área hispanohablante en el mundo. En kinder, ellos aprenderán acerca de Cuba. En el primer grado, ellos
explorarán Honduras y América Central. En el segundo grado, ellos aprenderán acerca de México. En tercer grado, ellos se centrarán en
España. En cuarto grado, ellos aprenderán acerca de Perú en América del Sur.

características naturales y culturales de Honduras
Segundo Grado: Ocupaciones: identificar trabajos diferentes en una comunidad y por qué necesitamos que personas hagan trabajos diferentes Mapas y globos: identificar símbolos de mapa y direcciones de la brújula, fronteras y accidentes geográficos de EE.UU. y México, identificar los continentes y océanos
Tercer Grado: Tipos de comunidades: identificar y descr ibir las comunidades urbanas, suburbanas, y rurales Necesidades de la comunidad: ordenar lugares de la comunidad, bienes y servicios, productores y consumidores, recursos
Cuarto Grado: La historia de Perú: leer una línea de tiempo y un libro que enfoca en la historia de Perú, describir la cultura inca: su arquitectura (Machu Picchu), agricultura (maíz y papas), comunicación (quechua, chasquis/mensajeros), quipus (un modo de anotar información), y creencias (Inti, dios del sol)
