A Nation State is a form of political organization under which a relatively homogeneous people inhabits a sovereign state.

An example of a modern nation state is Japan, in which 98.5% of the population is ethnic Japanese.

The United States is not a nation state as the population is made up of multiple ethnicities What is a nation state? Click meTokyo Homogenous population

3England is united by William the Conqueror (1066 to 1087 CE/AD). William leads the Norman conquest from France and defeats the Saxons at the Battle of Hastings in 1066 CE/AD)

Henry II (1154 to 1189 CE/AD) brings order to England in 1166 CE by establishing the origins of common law and trial by jury

John I (1199 to 1216 CE/AD) is forced to sign the Magna Carta in 1215 CE/AD, which ends a civil law by limiting the monarchs power and reestablishing English law

England fights the Hundred Years War against France (1337 to 1453 CE/AD), in which England is expelled from the European mainland (except Calais) and defines modern boundaries for the country

Hugh Capet establishes the Capetian dynasty in Paris in 987 to 996 CE/AD, which gradually expands to control most of France

Hundred Years War against England defines France as a nation and sets modern boundaries

Joan of Arc (1412 to 1431) unifies French during the hundred years war, but is eventually captured by the English, condemned as a heretic and burned at the stake

King Ferdinand and Queen Isabella unify Spain and rule the nation state from 1474 to 1516 CE/AD

Muslim moors are expelled from Spain during the Reconquista and non-Christians were persecuted during the inquisition (convert, leave or die)

Spain also begins the era of exploration (in 1492 Columbus sailed the ocean blue and the rest is Tenth Grade World History!)

Mongol armies invade Russia and rule from 1237 to 1547 CE/AD.

Ivan the Great (Ivan the Terrible) expels the Mongols and assumes absolute power as the Czar (the Russian name for Emperor)
