Vijaywada The Walk organized by LVPEI from the City Centre to the Benz Circle saw about 50 participants.
Vishakhapatnam Sri Uppalapati Raja, Titan Business Associate and Sri O Naresh, CEO, Symbiosys Technologies flagged off the Walk from the Ramakrishna Beach. Allergan India and Pfizer supported the event.

• Under the guidance of Dr Prafulla Sarma, Sri Sankaradeva Nethralaya, the Glaucoma awareness march was organized at Guwahati with about 400 participants including about a 100 school children.

Patna
• Glaucoma March was conducted on March 9 • Free screening of relatives of glaucoma patients at Divyadrishti Eye Centre,Patna was conducted by Dr Subhash.
• An audio video presentation on glaucoma to spread the awareness through out the week for all the patients attending Divyadrishti Eye Centre, Patna.
• Glaucoma awareness was spread on Radio Mirchi and Doordarshan on this occasion.

Chandigarh (U.T.)
Advanced Eye Centre:
• Glaucoma Awareness March on Sunday, 9th March from Rock garden to Sukhna Lake. Attended by over 100 people from all walks of life.
• Dr S S Pandav and Dr Sushmita Kaushik organized the B-‐I-‐G Luncheon at Hotel Mountview alongwith a Press Conference.
• Dr SS Pandav and Dr Sushmita Kaushik held radio talks and sensitized the general public about the disease and the importance of screening.
• Dr Sushmita Kaushik also gave a talk at FM radio. • A skit was organized at Sector 17 Plaza for Glaucoma awareness.
Government Medical College, Sector 32: • Dr Suresh Kumar gave a talk to diagnosed glaucoma patients to improve
their drug compliance. • Dr Parul Ichhpujani organized a Screening Camp for the hospital
personnel. She also designed bookmarks carrying the message for Glaucoma screening, which were distributed at major book stores of the city for circulation.

• All India Institute of Medical sciences, Raipur organized Glaucoma Awareness Walkathon on March 9 .
• Glaucoma screening camp followed by a lecture by Dr Ankur Srivastava on March 10.

Delhi
• World Glaucoma Week kick started with glaucoma awareness walk on 9th March from Rajghat to Dr. Shroff’s Charity Eye Hospital (SCEH). The walk was organized in association with Glaucoma Society of India and Delhi Ophthalmological Society.
• Mr. Kapil Sibal, the Hon’ble Minister of Telecommunication and Information Technology, Govt. of India, flagged of the walk by releasing balloons on this occasion.
• Several eminent ophthalmologists and glaucoma specialists participated in the walk along with the Mr. A. K. Arora (Chief Executive Officer-‐SCEH), Doctors, Optometrists, Nurses and other staff of SCEH.
• During the walk public awareness lectures were delivered by Prof. (Dr.) J. C. Das (President Glaucoma society of India (GSI) and Glaucoma consultant Shroff Eye Center ) and Dr. Suneeta Dubey (Treasurer GSI and HOD, Glaucoma services, SCEH).
• Other activities included, free glaucoma screening camps and public awareness lectures at Dr. Shroff’s Charity Eye Hospital Daryaganj and the satellite centers of Gurgaon (HARYANA), Alwar (RAJESHTHAN), Rampur and Mohammadi ( U.P.) by Drs. Suneeta Dubey, Monica Gandhi and Dr. Julie Pegu and the Glaucoma team. Approximately 300 patients had been screened throughout the week who underwent diagnostic, laser and surgical procedures free of cost.

• Video display for awareness, for all those patients visiting the M & J Western Regional Institute of Ophthalmology, Civil Hospital, Ahmedabad.
• Poster competition for PGs, UGs and optometry students with theme of glaucoma. 3 best posters in EACH category given prizes. All those posters then displayed during the entire week.
• Diagnostic camp in the district of Amreli • Distribution of awareness pamphlets • Free drug distribution • Lectures on various topics of glaucoma during the entire week,
daily, by Dr Mariam Mansuri, Dr Kamini Prajapati, Dr Nirav Modi and Dr Purvi Bhagat for students & faculties, M & J Western Regional Institute of Ophthalmology, Civil Hospital.

• Trivandrum Ophthalmic Club took up the glaucoma wareness week on a grand scale. More than 2000 SMSs , 2500 postal invites, 10000 email invites and 4500 facebook invites were sent. More than 10 NGO's were associated. The Chief Secretary of Kerala, Transport Commissioner, Film Stars, doctors and people from all walks of life participated.
• A press conference was held and the walk was reported in all local newspapers both before and after the event. It was also carried in two TV news channels.

• Dr Amrit Sethi, President,Bathinda Ophthalmological Society
Conducted an awareness program at Bathinda and invited Dr Kirti Singh and Dr Gursatinder.
• Old time-‐tested drugs like pilocarpine,have still have an important place in the treatment of glaucoma,a blinding eye disease. Over the years,international pharma industry has pushed out these drugs in favor of much costlier drugs-‐making glaucoma treatment unaffordable for poor patients who have to use glaucoma drugs for whole life to retain the vision. This gripe was expressed by Prof Kirti Singh of Maulana Azad Medical College, Delhi. She underlined the need for early diagnoses and proper management to reduce the load of blind population in the society. She also demonstrated newer and safer techniques of surgical procedures for glaucoma.
• Prof Gursatinder Singh of Govt Medical College,Patiala delved in newer tools to diagnose glaucoma in early stages.

• Dr. Balwinder and Dr. Ravleen of the local Civil Hospital along with Dr. K.K.Gupta, Dr. Rajiv Jain and Dr Amandeep Singh from the private sector conducted an interactive session with general public to spread Glaucoma awareness at Kharar. Lions Club, Kharar supported the programme and helped organise the session.
• A quiz was also conducted, highlighting the main features of Glaucoma, and clarifying common myths.

• Dr Ankur Sinha, Max Vision Eye Care Centre, Jaipur, discussed the glaucoma week issue in common meeting with secretaries of Rajasthan ophthalmic society and Jaipur ophthalmic society.
• A press release and a free glaucoma screening camp were carried out on March 9th, followed by a free screening appeal to ophthalmologists of Rajasthan.
• Dr Sunil Gupta of Ram Avtar Eye Hospital & Glaucoma Pavilion on 14.03.2014 in association with the leading Newspaper of Rajasthan RAJASTHAN PATRIKA.
