World Environment Day 2018 Report
June 5 is marked by the United Nations as World Environment Day (WED), a day set aside since 1974 to promote “worldwide awareness and action for the protection of our environment.”
India is the global host of 2018 World Environment Day and this year’s theme is “beat plastic pollution.”
CERC-ENVIS Resource Partner has celebrated WED 2018 since January, 2018 and culminated on 5th June, 2018.
CERC-ENVIS celebrated WED 2018 with the Youth of slums at Manav Sadhna, Juna Vadaj, Ahmedabad, India. The team made them aware of the importance of World Environment Day 2018, its theme and how to make themselves as ambassador of the campaign. The team talked about different types of plastics, how to identify the plastic. The team gave them an idea about the alternatives of plastic and how to live Eco-friendly life.
CERC-ENVIS team organised different activities. Youth played different games on plastic like Snake and Ladder, Maze, Quiz and know your plastic. In the end, each Youth took the pledge for not using plastics and stop plastic pollution. They will act as an ambassador of the campaign as “PLASTIC HERO” and spread this message. We have distributed T-Shirts and Caps with the caption and asked them to wear while campaigning.
