Is $175 enough? Should it be raised?

i. CORL is only $60.00…but they don’t cover millage for Ref’s

ii. General support to look at raising team fees if needed but need to

also look for cost reductions.

How do we capture these short comings in the future?

i. Can WORL cover costs from teams?

ii. Can WORL ask the Association to cover the millage if they are out of

town.

iii. Can we ask Western Region to cover the short falls on Ref Millage?

1. Melinda thinks we should ask WRRA, Peter thinks we would

be successful. Also, Melinda felt if we raise fees we should

not carry much of an operation buffer.

Fundraising ideas for WORL

i. Implement an intent fee?

ii. Raise Team fees.

iii. Implement at Tryout Fee

Motion to accept the financial report:

Discussion:

- Phil will approach Western Region to cover cost for the season approx. $1000.

- WORL to decide start of next season, but will look to further reduce expenses and

likely to Increase of WORL team fees for 2017/2018 by $25.

This game is a Waterloo home game, Leah to follow up with Waterloo group to find

attend meetings this year at all and 2nd year that a CRA came did not get

completed.

9) Willing to Host Forms&General Discussion About Intents for 2017/2018 tryouts

Willing to Host:

AA & U12PP Teams – Were Due Sunday April 9th

o All team forms are in, teams will be notified tonight.

A Teams – Due Sun April30th

o Still more teams to be submitted to WORL

General Discussion:

-Coaches need to do a better job of reading the WORL Tryout rules.

-If players have not submitted, intents but show up at Tryouts, don’t let them on is.

For Western Region player’s not on the Intent list do not let them on. No excuse to

not complete the intent form. Pay special attention for “A” players showing up to

“AA” tryouts

For non-Western Region players that show up at Tryouts like University

U19A/U19AA players, let them on as they likely would not know about intent

system in Western Region

-If players have not submitted “AA” then they should not be allowed on the ice. Especially

if they never submitted an intent. They will have to get their president to get Peter add

the intent.

-So many players have applied for “AA” this year and last that is skews the data for possible

teams. Looks like there are more players available then there really are as some don’t

show up or only go for warmup ice but have no real intent on playing “AA”

Page 5: WORL A/AA League - Western Region Ringette Association · OpenA 22 Open A Cambridge Waterloo – Greer 3/5/201 8:30 Moses Springer Arena This game is a Waterloo home game, Leah to

-Presidents should be checking in with intents list prior to signing tryout release forms.

Presidents should not be handing out “blank” signed forms so that associations don’t have

to police the list at the tryout itself.

-Remind coaches/tryout organizers to get attendance lists to Peter with in 24 hours.

-Consider next season about “communizing” collection of contact/player details to help

reduce individual collection of player information. Would be helpful for all associations

who are running tryouts.

10) WORL AA League Play for next season

CORL Play is in a transition state. Concerns have been raised.

CORL expecting new President to be put in place in near future.

Not sure where it is going, but possibly a “super” league in the future.

i. Concerns raised about CORL governance structure.

ii. WORL has more growth and stability

11) Tournament Selection Coordination Meeting proposal

Would be 1stor 2ndweek of July

Coordinated meeting that is mandatory for coaches of “A” and “AA” teams.

Consensus is to have the meeting as it would help prevent Western Region

Provincial teams playing each other a bunch of times

12) Reports

G&T – Nancy Houghtling Link to G&T report on WRRA: http://www.wrra.ca/reports/0413gtrp.pdf Need Contact information for coaches to be sent t o Shelley Need contact information for Presidents to be sent to Shelley has soon as it
