Task Nº 1

1) Title: Matching

2) Explain Task: Students have to identify vocabulary related to food according to the pictures.

3) Objectives: -Identify the different types of food.

-Develop vocabulary related to food.

-Encourage students to prefer healthy food.

4) Time: 7 minutes.

5) Materials: Computer lab, CD-Rooms, speakers.

Task Nº 2

1) Title: Create a dialogue in front of the class.

2) Explain Task: Students are going to ask and answer questions about food prices in a role play.

For instance: How much is this apple? It is 100 pesos.

3) Objectives: -Students have to create a dialogue and make a role play.

-To place students in a real life situation.

-Incentivise students to act independently when they need to survive.

4) Time: 45 minutes.

5) Materials: Flashcards, pictures.

6) Level: 7th grade. Elementary.

7) Skills: Writing, speaking and reading.

Task Nº 3

1) Title: Choose likes and dislikes.

2) Explain Task: Students complete a chart with “love, like, hate”.

3) Objectives: -Express feelings and emotions.

-Use of adjectives and expressions.

4) Time: 5 minutes.

5) Materials: A worksheet with pictures of food.

6) Level: 7th grade elementary.

7) Skills: Reading and writing.

Comparisons

1) In task Nº1 there is only vocabulary involved and reading. It is also a controlled task and

students are consumers because all the vocabulary is given.

2) Also, in task Nº2, students are producers and not consumers ( as in task Nº2) because the

vegetables are given.

3) In activity Nº3, students do a semi-controlled activity because the teacher gives them the

vocabulary. The role of the students is “consumer”, he/she is only selecting where to put

the different food.

The most effective option would be task Nº2 because it includes functions, vocabulary

more skills, such us: speaking, reading and writing.

On the other hand, task Nº2 includes vocabulary functions, grammar structures, strategic

awareness and most importantly: Product.
