Lerwick Autos has just opened for business in the Shetland Isles.

Sonia and Tommy Robertson operate Robertsons Coach Hire and Yell Autos on the Islands and told us some history of their business.

In 1947 R.Robertson Taxi hire was established by Robbie Robertson, a Merchant Seaman. Robbie started his business with just one car and gradually expanded by purchasing additional vehicles which were used for both taxis and self-drive hire.In 1973 Robbie’s son, Tommy, joined the business and the name became R. Robertson & Son. Today, R.Robertson & Son is managed by Tommy’s daughter Sonia, together with Tommy. Sonia came into the business in 2004 and since then the business has seen its largest expansion.

The Robertson brand is certainly a presence in Shetland, forever developing with modern technologies and equipment to keep up to date and provide a service for an ever developing and changing Shetland. Sonia and Tommy have exciting plans for the future and are extremely proud of the company’s development over the years. This is all due to the vision of a Seaman, Robbie Robertson, and through his ambition from humble beginnings they have now three Robertson’s services, known as R. Robertson & Son, Yell Autos and Lerwick Autos. This is the story of a family business being established, nurtured and grown and still owner operated by the same family all these years later.

The basic program or ‘A’ disc, is common to all packages and is required for the system to run and also includes parts information. Other modules are then added to enhance the capabilities of the program. For the purposes of diagnostics, the two most popular packages are known as SD/SIS and Diagnostic Master Package. Both are available on one year or three year subscription packages.

SD/SIS Comprises ECU Diagnosis (SD) and Trouble Shooting Instructions (SIS)

SD - Covers fault code readout, erase error memory, actual values, actuators, service interval resetting etc.

SIS - Has additional troubleshooting information, to enable the user to determine faults with troubleshooting tabs showing instructions for a specific fault code, electrical terminal diagrams, detailed component information, test procedures etc.
