Working with LandcareLachlan Catchment Management Authority (CMAs) partnership with Landcare Landcare is a highly valued partner of the Lachlan CMA. This partnership enables an important link to many local communities to ensure that the Lachlan CMA programs and projects are what is needed and valued. This makes the most difference in achieving Natural Resource Management (NRM) outcomes across the Catchment.
Working with Landcare networksWorking with Landcare networks is a significant part of the Lachlan CMAs partnership focus, with the Lachlan CMA providing funding towards part time Landcare support positions. The Lachlan CMA also provides up to date NRM information to Landcare groups through presentations, forums and field days. Landcare is a key partner in many on ground projects and in the district engagement planning process.Landcare staff and committees also participate in training offered by the Lachlan CMA as a way of building community capacity.
Benefits of this partnership
This partnership offers many benefits both at a local and a catchment level. These include;• Strengthening the strategic direction of both the CMA and LachLandcare
network • Development of joint funding submissions between the Lachlan CMA,
LachLandcare and local Landcare networks• Encouraging and promoting community involvement in NRM• Formation of partnerships with various community NRM and government
bodies jointly with Landcare• Working together to leverage local funding for community projects

LachLandcare
A milestone for Landcare in the Lachlan catchment has been achieved by the formation of LachLandcare, the peak grass roots representative body for Landcare in the Lachlan.
What is LachLandcare?LachLandcare Inc. is an advocate, communicator and mentor for Landcare ideas and action in the Lachlan catchment. It aims to create resilient landscapes and communities through collaborative partnerships that optimise use of resources.Nine district Landcare network organisations make up LachLandcare Inc. Each network has a Landcare Support Officer (LSO) employed on a part time basis with funds provided by the Lachlan CMA.
LachLandcare delegatesLachLandcare consists of delegates from each of the nine Landcare districts in the Lachlan CMA.LachLandcare is also represented on - the State Landcare body for NSW.
Landcare FacilitatorsThe LSOs and LachLandcare are supported by Regional Landcare Facilitators (RLFs). The Lachlan CMA is represented on the RLF steering Committee along with other NRM groups. The role of the RLFs is to;• promote the uptake of sustainable farm practices
including soil, vegetation management and farming systems
• establish, support, and develop Landcare and production groups and to help them; and
• promote opportunities for groups and networks to access public and private funding to improve on farm NRM outcomes
