WORKING TO HONOUR THE RESULT OF THE EU REFERENDUM Of course, Brexit continues to dominate our national debate. This leaflet sets out what I have been working on locally, for you, since I was first elected. In parliament I have consistently voted to honour the result of the referendum and to do so in an orderly manner providing certainty for our future and securing the best possible trading relationship with the EU going forward. IMPROVING TRANSPORT LINKS With financial support from national and local government we built the Ely bypass, easing congestion through the city and improving journeys for everyone in the constituency. Since being elected, I have spearheaded a campaign to get the A10 upgraded. Over a thousand residents have signed my petition in support of upgrading the road. The Combined Authority and Mayor have put in a bid for government funding. I am supporting the upgrade and the bid so that commuters don’t have to sit in traffic on their way to work every day. I have been working with both the Greater Cambridge Partnership and the Mayor to press for much needed safety and capacity improvements to the A1307 where work has now begun - with a £14million package to improve road safety, bus priority and to upgrade walking and cycling routes along the road by the end of 2020. I am also campaigning to secure investment in junctions 37 and 38 on the A14. MORE FUNDING FOR OUR SCHOOLS Since being elected as your MP we have secured £3.1 million extra funding for South East Cambridgeshire schools following rigorous campaigning. In addition, we gained ‘opportunity area’ status for East Cambridgeshire benefitting from £6 million more as a result. This means that schools are now able to call on more training for mental health support, early years improvement and assistance to acquire the best teachers. Recently the Prime Minister announced a further package of £14 billion for schools. I will continue to represent the schools in our area and further improve the standards for our children to ensure that they get the start in life that they deserve. WORKING TO HONOUR THE RESULT OF THE EU REFERENDUM

Of course, Brexit continues to dominate our national debate. This leaflet sets out what I have been working on locally, for you, since I was first elected. In parliament I have consistently voted to honour the result of the referendum and to do so in an orderly manner providing certainty for our future and securing the best possible trading relationship with the EU going forward.

IMPROVING TRANSPORT LINKS

With financial support from national and local government we built the Ely bypass, easing congestion through the city and improving journeys for everyone in the constituency. Since being elected, I have spearheaded a campaign to get the A10 upgraded. Over a thousand residents have signed my petition

in support of upgrading the road. The Combined Authority and Mayor have put in a bid for government funding. I am supporting the upgrade and the bid so that commuters don’t have to sit in traffic on their way to work every day. I have been working with both the Greater Cambridge Partnership and the Mayor to press for

much needed safety and capacity improvements to the A1307 where work has now begun - with a £14million package to improve road safety, bus priority and to upgrade walking and cycling routes along the road by the end of 2020. I am also campaigning to secure investment in junctions 37 and 38 on the A14.

MORE FUNDING FOR OUR SCHOOLS

Since being elected as your MP we have secured £3.1 million extra funding for South East Cambridgeshire schools following rigorous campaigning.

Promoted by Debbie Clark, on behalf of Lucy Frazer, both of Walsingham Chambers, Butchers Row, Ely, Cambs CB7 4NA. Printed by Paragon CC, 41-44 Stapledon Road, Orton Southgate, Peterborough, PE2 6TH.

Continuing to support local business and farming communities – raised issues with Ministers such as investment in science and technology and the need for skilled and agricultural workers

Standing up for our local healthcare – increasing investment in Addenbrooke’s and saved the Princess of Wales minor injuries unit

Securing key investment for our local infrastructure – including the Ely Bypass, spearheaded the A10 upgrade campaign, lobbying for more infrastructure into Cambridge

Working to honour the result of the referendum - leaving in an orderly manner and securing the best possible trading relationship going forward.

I will continue working to get your voice heard on these and many other issues.

SUPPORTING LOCAL BUSINESS GROWTH

South East Cambridgeshire has a thriving local economy and we have many industries to be proud of. I have brought Trade Ministers to the constituency to help our area learn how we can improve our export capability. I have also raised important issues such as the importance of maintaining a skilled workforce with Ministers in the House of Commons.

A LOCAL CHAMPION Working Hard for Local Residents

Find out more about Lucy’s work at Lucyfrazer.org.uk

Criminalising Inappropriate Behaviour As a Justice Minister I took through Parliament the up-skirting legislation – criminalising the degrading treatment of taking a picture up someone’s skirt. This now has a punishment of up to two years in prison.

Campaigning For Greater Local Control Over Planning We need to build more houses nationally but I know that people want to have more input into what development happens in their area and where. I recently met with the Housing Minister alongside councillors to discuss concerns about speculative planning applications and overdevelopment. I have consistently raised issues with the planning regime with Ministers to improve our area.

More Officers on the Beat The Prime Minister has committed to getting 20,000 more police officers on our streets with a £2.5 billion package for more prison places. As a Justice Minister, I have worked to make our justice system more effective with better use of our courts and

new security measures to tackle drugs in our prisons. Working with Cambridgeshire Police I have helped in a programme to assist teens deal with youth violence, drugs and cyber security. We need to keep our area safe.

Increasing Bus Provision Locally I am working with councils and residents to input into the Combined Authority strategic bus review so that we can get more buses running through our villages. I worked with Bottisham residents and Conservative Councillors to improve the bus stop on the A1303 which now has a new shelter and hard standing.

Increasing Our Cycle Routes I have been working with the Greater Cambridge Partnership to help deliver the Greenways projects which will bring more cycle paths to our area. These include routes in Fulbourn, Waterbeach, Horningsea and Linton. I am pressing for additional routes to be identified and working with the parish council to progress the planned Burwell to Exning cycle path.

For four years as your MP I have worked with local campaigners and local councillors; I have lobbied Ministers and raised your issues in Parliament – getting our local voice heard and getting things done here in South East Cambridgeshire.

Improving Broadband And Mobile Connectivity For 4 years I have worked with Government, BT, Connecting Cambridgeshire and others to ensure we have better connectivity and we now have 97% superfast broadband coverage across Cambridgeshire. Many of the villages I represent are now benefiting from better coverage. I recently met with all major UK mobile providers – O2, Three, Vodafone – who are now considering ways to improve their local coverage. Vodafone and O2 have already made changes to Waterbeach coverage as a result.

Protecting Local Healthcare Services I have supported our local health authorities bid for more funding. This autumn the Government announced that Addenbrooke’s will share in a £100 million fund. I have supported the building of the new children’s hospital on the Addenbrooke’s site and saved our local minor injuries unit in Ely. I will continue to fight for improved healthcare services.

Lucy and Fordham District Councillors meeting Kit Malthouse MP (centre right), the then Housing Minister.

Lucy and Jason Ablewhite, the Police and Crime Commissioner for Cambridgeshire

I am working across the constituency to improve bus provision including in places like here in Burwell.

Tackling Climate Change Reducing the effects of climate change is one of the great issues of our time. By committing to net-zero emissions by 2050, the UK Government remains a global leader on this issue. Our renewable electricity capacity has trebled since 2010, with a third of all electricity generation now being supplied by renewable sources. The UK is now decarbonising faster than any other G20 country and we have decreased our emissions by 29% in the last decade. But we still need to do more, and I am working both nationally and in our local area to protect our planet for the future.

Improving Our Rail Working with other MPs, local councils and the Combined Authority we have secured significant investment in rail in our region – with a new station in Cambridge North already built, a new station in Soham where construction is due to commence in 2020, and I am working to improve train capacity through Ely and Newmarket stations.
