• The World Health Organization reports that the widespread transmission of the avian flu isalmost certain– Two of the three conditions required for a pandemic are

already in place– The third requirement, the ability of the virus to be

transmitted directly from human to human, isalmost certain

• U.S. Congressional Budget Office projections of 75 to 90 million infections; 100k to 2M deaths; 1.5 to 5 percent drop in GDP

• Lehman’s clients were even able to access a fixed income trade settlement application using Citrix software
