    How to Blog

This handout uses free blog site wordpress.

com, but you could also use blogger.com

(Some people nd blogger a more friendly or

    easier-to-use interface.)

Both sites have easy to use instructions to sign

up for a free site quickly and easily.

You need to choose a USERNAME & PASS-

WORD - can be good to write these down!

Then choose your URL, or WEB ADDRESS

where your blog can be found online.

    From your DASHBOARD

you should start by making a

    NEW POST.

This is how you make your

    post appearONLINE.

    ADDING IMAGES & VIDEO

A great way to make your blog

    visually exciting is to add

    images and video about what-

ever it is youre writing about.

To add an image or a video

you need to click these but-

    tons above your post dialogue

    box.

    Then you should see a

dialogue box like one of the

ones on the left-hand side ofthis page.

    IMPORTANT

You must be aware of the rights

and permissions of an imageor video if you are using it on

your blog. A blog is a form of

    publishing, and with any type

    of publishing, you must seek

    permission or check the copy-

    rights rst!

    USING CATEGORIES AND TAGS

These are very useful ways to categories your

information (posts) so that they can be easily

    found again)

For example, you could the name of an assign-

ment or course as a CATEGORY, and the name

of the artist, topic or author you are posting asa TAG.

    Change the way your

    blog looks online by

    experimenting with

    different themes.
