DISASTER RELIEF:A Life Rescue Multi-Tool Design
The concept is a tool package that integrates life detector and other force entry tools. The target group is life rescue teams who save people’s lives after disasters, such earthquake, flood and fire.
During the ideation process, the concepts had been transferred from a disaster rescue tool kit to a disaster rescue multi-tool, which had the main function of life detctor.
Use pink foam to make mock-up models for user test.
Based on the sketch model, a computer model was developed in Rhinoceros to show the appearance and fuction of the product.
The electromagnetic life detector is designed to locate and track living human individuals based on a response to the beating human heart. It is composed of a laser dowsing rod, main analyser, display and control interface.

WATER CONSERVATION:Grey Water Recyle-Reuse System
After the Katrina Hurricane in 2005 The Trinity Curch in Pass Christian, MS was destroyed by the hurricane. Students from Architecture and Industrial Design in Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) were sent to help redesign the church and water conservation system.

Water is a limited resource that many of us take for granted. Industrial designers in this collebrative project focused on rain water recycle. The recycle system is composed of collecting, filtering and delivering, and applying the system into a church site plan.
Filter
Rain water is heavested by the individual green-roof unites, and filted by soil.
Based on the theme of sustainability and education/show case to the local community, our concept is the visualization of water recycling. We were using local materials and reused materials; for education and visualizing, we chose glass bricks for the water pipe and water channel.
After first filter, the rain water runs through the glass bricks and goes down to the bottom of the building.
The second filter is located under the building. Grey water is purified here and is stored for flushing toilets and other indoor use.
Purified water is then delivered through water channels covered with glass bricks.
Cleaned water runs through the outdoor church and other installations.

Modular Design makes green roof produced as identifical pieces, and it fits for different shapes of building roofs.
WHEATSTAW FRIDGE BAG:Sustainable Materials Research

Wheat straw is a fast grow and abundant agricultural residue. There is a big potential of reusing and reclcycling wheat straws rather than field burning. Wheatstraw board is a good example of reuse wheat straw.

CULTURE AND FORM:Emerging Chinese Culture into Car Exterior Design
This project explored the connection between design and culture. A design style that merged culture into itself can stand for a nation.
Chinese culture is involved in this exterior design. Form features are extracted from ancient Chinese architecture, bronze and hand brushes.

Long wheelbase provides a larger interior space and keep the exterior dimension at a same number.
Play a role of rare spoiler to increase the downward pressure. Adopt the form of ancient Chinese architecture.
Curves and faces on the exterior come from the hand brush arts.
“Yun-lei“ was the frequently used pattern of bronzes, which are also applied to front design.
