Geared only to assessing a benchmark for unemployed Georgians and counties interested in encouraging a stronger workforce through improving high school graduation rates and increasing the number of students choosing post-secondary education options.

The Governor’s Office of Workforce Development makes workreadyconnect.org available free of charge to individuals and companies that recognize Work Ready as part of their hiring process.

• Encourage students to participate in post-secondary education• Discourage secondary education absenteeism

• Changes effective February 1, 2012- Already Certified Work Ready Communities continue with grant allocations awarded, including: financial grants, road signs, local Chamber of Commerce memberships- Counties NOT Work Ready Certified as of 2/1/12 are eligible to become a CWRC using the three metrics above. Upon achievement, county can receive: road signs and Chamber of Commerce memberships- Grant packets arrive to team leaders week of 1/30/12

“Each county shared and asked for help from the other counties. A separate Education Committee developed the Biotechnology curriculum which was accepted by the DOE. Now over 24 schools are teaching the biotechnology career pathway with over 2500 students enrolled. A separate group, the IC Regional Partnership, consisted of the 13 Chambers of Commerce and economic development entities, which ultimately formed a 501c3 organization to continue to market the IC globally.”

Positive Changes within Professional Licensing Boards Positive Changes within Professional Licensing Boards Division Division

• Secretary of State Brian Kemp announced a plan to streamline the operations at his agency’s Professional Licensing Boards Division (PLB) through more efficient procedures in license application review and code enforcement.

• The changes will help the state’s next generation of skilled trade professionals obtain licensure sooner so they can start a job or start a business faster which is very important to the success of Go Build Georgia.
