Work Instructions: Lead Source Determination

Entering the lead source for a job will now be a two- step process that has been streamlined and partially automated. Users will be required to select a lead source category and then select a corresponding lead source type.

Process for New Customers

For NEW customers, lead source determination will be the responsibility of the job creator and take place in the ‘Customer & Address’ tab during the job wizard.

The lead source data for the specific job is automatically determined according to predefined mapping rules and the system will default the correct lead source category and type in the Marketing section of the ‘Questions & Notes’ tab. Because the customer is new, the lead source information for the customer and job are the same.

After the job has been created the system will update the new customer record with the lead source category and type

When displaying or editing the job, both the customer lead source data and the job lead source data will be visible in the ‘Basic Information’ tab

Process for Existing Customers

Existing customers will have the lead source data already in the customer master record.

During job creation the system retrieves the lead source data from the customer master record and copies it to the ‘Customer & Address’ tab

In the Questions and Notes Tab, the lead source data for the specific job is automatically determined according to predefined mapping rules and the system defaults - ‘Repeat Customer’

Users may update this section if the job was a direct result of a special promotion.

After the job has been created both the customer lead source category/type and the job lead source category/type will be visible in the ‘Basic Information’ tab. Because the customer is an existing customer, the lead source information for the customer and job are not the same.
