WORKING FOR FOUR

2014 Recruits

Graduate facts

It is estimated that across the UK, about one graduate in 10 is still out of work six months after leaving university

37% of the jobs being offered by the top companies are expected to be filled by graduates who have held paid internships, holiday work or work experience

There are 8.7% more graduate vacancies than last year – the biggest annual rise in graduate recruitment for four years

Graduate facts More than two-fifths of employers said they had received more

completed graduate job applications during the early part of the recruitment season than they had last year

Recruiters have repeated their warnings– that graduates who have had no previous work experience at all are unlikely to be successful during the selection process and have little or no chance of receiving a job offer for their organisations’ graduate programmes

Preparation at an early stage: Ensure you know what you want to do before the

end of year results Missed deadlines- graduate positions are most

likely to be filled before end of year results are announced
