Work complete: Princes Highway, Sylvania Roads and Maritime Services | March 2019 Recently-completed intersection work on Princes Highway and Port Hacking Road Roads and Maritime Services has completed the upgrade of the Princes Highway and Port Hacking Road intersection in Sylvania, which will improve traffic flow and reduce travel time for road users, particularly during peak periods. About the project Around 6,500 vehicles travel through the Princes Highway and Port Hacking Road intersection during the AM and PM peak periods. Prior to the improvements, road users turning from Princes Highway into Port Hacking Road were delayed by through-traffic at the intersection. Princes Highway road users travelling east were also delayed by buses stopping in the left lane, near Florida Street. We’ve lengthened the Princes Highway’s third westbound through-lane, freeing up the left-turn lane into Port Hacking Road. We’ve constructed a dedicated bus bay on Princes Highway eastbound, near Florida Street, allowing buses to pull out of the traffic to drop off and pick up passengers. We have also put in new pedestrian traffic lights on Madeira Street to enhance public safety. The completed work includes: • lengthening of the Princes Highway’s third westbound through-lane • establishing a dedicated bus bay for eastbound services along Princes Highway • resurfacing and line marking at the intersection • new directional signs and signposting • new pedestrian crossing lights on Madeira Street Roads and Maritime Services thanks ocal residents, businesses and road users for their patience throughout this project.
