    Blessing devotees with Vishnu Sahasranamam,

Srimad Bhagavat etc., Vittal darshan to Dixit, Gita Rahasya & Kaparde’s family.

    ********************************

Bathing in sea bestows all the benefits of bathing in various rivers as they all submerge in the sea. Similarly, bowing at Sri Guru’s feet bestows all the boons of worshiping various gods. Lets us all hear Baba’s stories and pray to Him to bless us.

    Blessing sacred texts:

Some devotees want their daily reading sacred texts to be blessed by Baba. One day Kaka Mahajani brought Eknath’s Bhagwat to Baba’s durbar to be blessed by Baba. Baba got the book and after turning some pages gave it to Shama and asked him to keep it. Later, Kakaji brought another copy and got it blessed by Baba.

    Shama & Vishnu Sahasranamam:

One day Baba decided to bless Shama by giving him a copy of Vishnu Sahasranamam. He tricked a Ramdasi staying in the masjid, who had a copy of this text, to go to the market to get Him

    S r i S a i S a t c h a r i t a i n o u r d a i l y l i f e - S a n k a r K u m a r

some medicine for stomach ache. After the Ramdasi left, Baba took his sahasranamam copy and gave it to Shama. Shama refused to accept knowing the short tempered nature of the Ramdasi but Baba insisted on Shama to keep it and read daily one nama as it would be very beneficial to him. When the Ramdasi returned he came to know about this and got enraged and prepared to fight with Shama, Baba called him and advised him against getting angry and explained that He only gave the book to Shama. In return, Shama agreed to give a copy of Pancharatni Gita. Thus the fight came to an end and later, Shama became very proficient in that text so as to explain the meaning to even more educated souls.

    Vittal Darshan:

We have already seen Baba’s leela of blessing Kakasaheb Dixit with Vittal darshan in chapter 4, earlier.

    Gita Rahasya:

Baba gave Bapu Saheb Jog a copy of Gita Rahasya, written by Tilak and asked him to read it daily for more benefits.

    Kaparde Family:

A learned gentleman knows as Dada Saheb Kaparde came with his family and stayed at Shirdi for a few months. He will just sit quietly in front of Baba. Everyday, his wife would bring lunch for Baba and insist on Him to eat it all. Baba wanted to show her greatness to others and would wait for her to bring food and would eat them

Saiamrutham — “The mother tortoise is on one bank of the river, and her young ones are on the other side., she gives neither milk, nor warmth to them. Her mere glance gives them nutrition. The young ones do nothing, but remember (meditate upon) their mother. The tortoise glance

is, to the young ones, a downpour of nectar, the only source of sustenance and happiness. Similar is the relation, between the guru and disciples. ”

eagerly. When Shama questioned Baba on this favoritism shown by Baba to her, Sai explained that she has been related to Him from several births and hence His show of love for her. After lunch, she would press Baba’s feet affectionately and Baba also would press her hands softly. He also gave her a mantra diksha and asked her to chant ‘Rajarama’ daily. This may look odd to others but this is called ‘Sakti-Path’ where the Guru transfers His power to His disciple. Others should not doubt or question the motive in this, as Guru and Sishya are one and the same.

    ***************************** BOW TO SRI SAI

    PEACE BE TO ALL!!

    *****************************

    LIFE APPLICATIONS

    **********************

Listening to Sai stories would bring happiness in daily life.

Sacred texts when blessed by one’s Guru, would bring more benefits.

Reading at least one name from Vishnu Sahasranama is very beneficial.

    Never doubt a Guru—Sishya relationship.

    Guru’s motives are

    unfathomable.

The Poor Farmer and the Cobra

******************************* There was a poor farmer named Haridutta with a small farm. One day, while he was resting under a shade of a tree, he noticed a huge anthill near the tree. He thought that there should be a cobra inside the anthill and decided to worship the same, for it would bring fortune for his farm and his family. Then he brought milk in a plate and kept near the anthill and prayed to the Cobra. Next day, he brought some more milk and was astonished to see a gold coin in his plate. He understood that the cobra has given him a gold coin for the milk. He started offering milk daily and collected the gold coin. He kept this a secret from everyone and slowly became richer. One day, when he needed to go out of town for a couple of days, he instructed his son to offer milk at the anthill, without divulging the secret. His son, went with the milk and was surprised to see the gold coin. He thought there should be a huge treasure under the anthill and proceeded to demolish it. The Cobra got hurt and was very angry and bit the son. The young boy died.

When the farmer came home next day, he was heart broken to see that his son is no more. Villagers were urging him to kill the cobra and destroy the anthill. But, he refused to do that, thinking that his son did a blunder in trying to destroy the anthill in the first place. Next day, he went with milk and offered to the Cobra and started praying. Cobra came out and told him that his son has hurt him out of youthful rashness. The cobra gave a diamond to the farmer and asked him not to come again, because the farmer too is greedy and came to get the gold coin, just after his son's death. Farmer returned lament-ing the loss of his son and his fortune.

    MORAL OF THE STORY ***************************

Greed has no limits and always ends in disaster.

The Falling leaves tell a story, Life is short live it with “glory” !

The flowing water runs smarter, it is always mind over matter, use it to make yourself better !

The clouds bringing down the rain, the salty water they retain, and shower the ever sweet nectar of life, that we need to sustain !

The flower that blooms everyday rejoices in it’s every sway, Says, live your life with “self respect”, the rest will follow, do not sweat !

The stroke of lightening ever so brightening, lasts but a second but leaves it’s mark so Enlightening !

The candle burns and spreads light and warmth, a humbling way to shine everyone’s path !

The tree standing strong and tall, spreading branches all around, creates the shade for us to rest, while it is standing against all odds, from dawn to sunset !

The Moonlight sublime adds a divinity, always sparkles for other’s prosperity !

So, there is a lot to learn from all that these subtly preach, big or small they are there to teach !

    OM NAMA SHIVAYA

    ***********************

Maha Shivarathri was celebrated at Sri Sai Amrutha Narayana Sarveshwaraalayam with

pomp and splendour. Devotees participated enthusiastically in the entire celebration. They

were blessed with the oppurtunity to perform abhisekam to lord & were engrossed in singing

the glories of the lord. It was a treat to the eyes of the devotees present as the lord was adorned

with kavachams , garlands & flowers.
