Words of Wisdom This spring, we launched a new resident program called Words of Wisdom. Created out of a desire to honor and learn from our residents, this program asks residents to answer questions related to their life experiences. Monthly topics, such as “Love,” paired with questions like “what is the secret to a long-lasting marriage?” give residents an opportunity to reflect on their many years of life and provide advice for younger generations.

Activity Directors at each community will host Words of Wisdom workshops each month so that residents have dedicated time to craft their responses to questions posed. Words of Wisdom will be shared at the community level and they may also be shared on community websites and Facebook pages.

In the last few months, this program has been met with enthusiasm. With over 100 submissions, we’ve enjoyed reading the Words of Wisdom our residents have submitted. The theme for May was “Seize the Day.” In June, we’ll ask for Words of Wisdom related to overcoming adversity. Oakmont Signature Enrichment Program June 2018

Visit Benicia  Thursday, June 7th, 10:00 am

Let’s visit the waterside city of Benicia. We’ll take a walking tour and learn about the rich history of this charming bayside town, which served as the state capital from 1853 to 1854. For lunch, we’ll dine at Pizza Pirate, a favorite among locals. Afterwards, we’ll explore the boutiques that adorn the quaint streets of the city. See you there!

We are pleased to introduce our Marketing Director, Leslye Peterson. Leslye grew up in Danville, California and later moved to Boston, where she raised her two daughters. After twenty-six years on the east coast, Leslye returned to California three years ago. When asked about living in Alameda, Leslye shared, ‘I adore the movie theater and restaurants here on the island, it’s a great town!’ In her spare time, Leslye enjoys reading, traveling and being around her family. Leslye is a talented vocalist and often performs at the community for residents and their families. She joined Oakmont as the concierge at Mariner Point. She

was promoted to Business Office Director, and was then offered her dream job as Marketing Director. When asked about her career with Oakmont, Leslye says, “I love that Oakmont really values their employees and offers opportunities for advancement from within. I am fortunate to have had the opportunity to work in several positions at our Alameda communities. The Marketing Director position is the perfect fit for me!”
