That’s a “Wrap”

On December 21st the Dallas Chapter made some holidays a little more warm and fuzzy. Over 130 wraps that were generously donated by the membership were given to Treasured Vessels Foundation of Frisco. Treasured Vessels Foundation is devoted to providing a safe place for girls ages 11-17 who have been rescued from domestic sex trafficking to receive healing and hope. They have a passion for restoring purpose and value to the perfectly imperfect. Thank you for helping others stay warm this season!

I was really excited to hear that the Literacy Page was returning to our newsletter. As you know I read a lot because I enjoy reading, yes I prefer reading over watching television. I recently had the pleasure of viewing the motion picture of a book I read several years ago entitled Wonder by R. J. Palacio. This movie was chosen by my sweet grandchildren. As their Gigi I was somewhat surprised of this choice because I know that my grandchildren do not like to see other children being mistreated, or bullied. After seeing the movie… yes I read the book again as did my grandchildren. The main character is a 10-year old delightful boy named August (Auggie) Pullman who has facial anomalies. I am not going to tell you the story

because I truly believe that every human being should read this book, with this warning…keep a tissue handy. This book will touch your inner being… your soul, you will laugh, cry, scream. You will receive a lesson from every character in the book. Lessons learned--don’t judge anyone by the way the look but by their inner charter. You can count on your parents even if things get tough, remember people make mistakes and everyone deserves a second chance.

“When given the choice between being right or being kind, choose kind.”

- Dr. Wayne W. Dyer.

“Courage. Kindness. Friendship. Character. These are the qualities that define us as human beings, and propel us, on occasion, to greatness.” ― R.J. Palacio, Wonder

“The best way to measure how much you've grown isn't by inches or the number of laps you can now run around the track, or even your grade point average-- though those things are important, to be sure. It's what you've done with your time, how you've chosen to spend your days, and whom you've touched this year. That, to me, is the greatest measure of success.” ― R.J. Palacio, Wonder

“Do all the good you can, By all the means you can, In all the ways you can, In all the places you can, At all the times you can, To all the people you can, As long as you ever can.

- John Wesley’s Rule”
