If you have an article, feature, photo or event you would like to include in our weekly newsletter, please send me an email to [email protected]. It’s amazing just how many fantastic things are happening each week at BGTC. There’s never enough room on the page. Thank you. Adam Smith, Multimedia Designer.
Pretty in pink.
This Friday, BGTC would like to invite students and staff to “Go Pink” for Breast Cancer Awareness Day. If you’d like to take part and wear something pink we would also love it if you could make a 50p donation or as much as you can afford. All the money raised will go to Breast Cancer Care and Breakthrough.
Additional information will be distributed during the week and a special powerpoint will be sent out to tutors to share with their class on the day. Pin badges will be available to buy on the day too.
All students will be expected to wear FULL school uniform as normal, therefore please limit your pink clothing to one item such as an accessory, hair band, scarf, shoe laces or tie.

Find Your FutureYear 11 ‘Careers Market Day’ Last Wednesday was ʻCareers Market Dayʼ at BGTC. We were
privileged to have a number of visiting experts from a wide
range of professions, including the Army, R.A.F., BT, as well as
Lawyers, Web Designers, Bankers, Hairdressers and many
more. Well done to our ʻEnrichmentʼ Team (in pink below) and
all the Year 11 students who looked smart and acted smart too.
You should all be really proud and hopefully youʼre now a little
nearer to ʻfinding your future!ʼ

Pretty In PinkBGTC supporting Breakthrough Breast Cancer Appeal
A huge thank you to all the students and staff that helped raise
both awareness and money for Breakthrough Breast Cancer on
Friday. Everyone looked “pretty in pink”, indicating their support
by switching an item of clothing to a particular hue of red. Just to
show it wasnʼt all girls - Mr. Hart was sporting both a pink shirt and
tie! A special “shout out” to Ms. Healy for organising the event - by
lunchtime weʼd already raised £150.

This weekWe don’t have much room left on the page so here’s a quick word scramble. Parents and teachers may recognise it as a conundrum, made famous by Channel 4’s Countdown. Can you rearrange the letters to make a nine letter word?
What a novel idea!We have yet more new arrivals in the LRC this week. It’s great to see so many books available to read. Don’t forget, Ms. Gill and Ms. Goodhand are running lunch clubs in the LRC for all Year 7 students, including reading, writing and storytelling.
Look out for the display shelf of new books which, this week includes Pumpkin Grumpkin, a collective of silly poems from around the world.

Attendance Olympics: Week 3
Mr. HappyNo, not the children’s book character but French Buddhist monk, Matthieu Ricard. Having been dubbed ‘the happiest person in the world’ following his “off the scale” results in a scientific, university study of happiness, a team of Year 11 students went in search of the secret to happiness.
Ansa, Kaya and Marjana met with Ricard to learn more about the study he took part in and discuss how he achieved this apparent happiness.
Ricard attributes his well-being and believes we could create a truly satisfied nation through altruism, helping others. He doesn’t believe in telling himself he’s happy, instead he thinks the secret is to control your feelings and make the most of every situation.
We meet “the World’s happiest man.”
