Wordle is a generating “word cloud” from text to add. Wordle is a very useful tool that allows you to

create a word cloud from text. It is very simple to use. You just type or copy text in the word box. The

words type with more frequency will appear larger than the other words. The clouds that can have their

appearance changed by way of fonts, layouts, and colors. You can edit the shape of the cloud and even

remove words you don’t like by right-clicking on them.

Wordle Home Page

First you go to http://www.wordle.net/ to begin.

Select the create tab at the top of the page

or the link on the home page.

Type or paste words/paragraphs of text into the

word box.

When you have all your desired words in the box

select the GO button and your Wordle Cloud will

be created.

Customizing Your Wordle Cloud

This is where you customize your

cloud. You can change the language,

font, layout, and color.

Under Layout you can choose:

ABC

Round or straight edges on

letters

The placement of letters

horizontal or vertical

When you make your Wordle Cloud you can only use

the edit button to undo or redo things you have

changed on the cloud, such as language, font, layout,

and color.

The Language Tab allows you to:

Remove numbers

Remove common words

Leave words as spelled

Make all lower-case

Make all words upper-case

Show word count

By selecting word count you can see the

number of times each word has been

typed when the cloud was generated.

The window below will open with the

words listed and the frequency.

To change your cloud color:

Select color on the tab and you can choose

from the preset colors or you can select the

custom palette and create your own colors.

you can pick the number of colors

Double click on the square and the

select a color window will appear (pick

your color then select ok)

If you do not want to go through selecting the font,

color, etc. you can always just click on the

randomize button at the button and let the

computer change the view of the cloud.

(you can select it as many times as you desire)

Hot Tip:

Tilde (~) between words to hang them together

(if you want your words to stay together like I did Joshua and

Abigail names to the left)

When you like the cloud and want it

to be the final cloud to publish just

select the button in the lower right

hand corner that says save to public

gallery.

Give your cloud a title and a

username you can identify.

Then select ok

A new window will open with the title and user name of the

creator.

You can always pull up your old wordless by remembering your

username at the end of this URL

in the gallery setting you

will see the code you will

need to embed your cloud

in your blog of website or

you can print your creation.
