Road and traffic safety

Road and traffic safety have ab-solute priority. Only operate your carradio if the road and traffic conditionsallow you to do so. Familiarise your-self with the unit before setting off onyour journey.You should always be able to hearpolice, fire and ambulance sirensfrom afar. For this reason, set thevolume of whatever you are listen-ing to at a reasonable level.

InstallationIf you want to install your car radio your-self, please read the installation andconnection instructions that follow theseoperating instructions.

AccessoriesOnly use accessories approved by Blau-punkt.

DAB antennaYou need a special DAB antenna in or-der to operate the Woodstock DAB 53.This can either be a separate DAB roofantenna or a DAB/AM/FM combinationantenna. You can obtain further infor-mation from your Blaupunkt dealer.

Remote controlThe RC 08, RC 10 or RC 10H remotecontrols (available as optional accesso-ries) allow you to access most of themain functions of your car audio sys-tem safely and conveniently.

You cannot switch on/off using the re-mote control.

AmplifierAll Blaupunkt amplifiers can be used.

CD changerYou can connect the following BlaupunktCD changers:CDC A 03, CDC A 08, CDC A 071, CDCA 072 and IDC A 09. You can also con-nect the CDC A 05 CD-changer by us-ing an adapter cable (Blaupunkt no.:7 607 889 093).

Note: In the case of older CD-changer

models, it is possible that not all ofthe described CD-changer func-tions are available.

Microdrive™ playerAs an alternative to a CD changer, youcan also connect a Compact Drive MP3player in order to access additional MP3tracks. If you decide to connect a Com-pact Drive MP3, you will first need touse a computer to store the MP3 trackson the Microdrive™ hard disk inside theCompact Drive MP3. Then, when theCompact Drive MP3 is connected to thecar radio, you can play the tracks likenormal CD tracks. You operate theMicrodrive™ player in the same way asyou would a CD changer – all the CDchanger functions can be used with theMicrodrive™ player.

Removable control panel

Theft protectionAs a way of protecting your car radioagainst theft, the unit is equipped witha removable control panel (flip-releasepanel). Without this control panel, thecar radio is worthless to a thief.

Protect your equipment against theft bytaking the control panel with you everytime you leave your vehicle. Do notleave the control panel in your vehicle -not even in a hiding place.

The control panel has been designedto be easy to use.

Note: Never drop the control panel.

Never expose the control panel todirect sunlight or other heat sourc-es.

Store the control panel in the sup-plied case.

Avoid making direct skin contactwith the control panel’s contacts. Ifnecessary, clean the contacts witha lint-free cloth soaked in alcohol.

Detaching the control panel

Press the button 1.

The control panel locking mechanismopens.

First, pull the control panel straightoff the unit and then out towardsthe left.

The unit switches off after the con-trol panel is removed.

All the current settings are saved.

Any CD already inserted in the unitremains there.

Attaching the control panel Slide the control panel from left to

right into the unit’s guide.

Press the left-hand edge of thecontrol panel into the unit until itclicks into place.

Note:Please note that the detachable controlpanel must remain closed whilst driv-ing (risk of injury in the event of an acci-dent).

Note: When attaching the control panel,

make sure you do not press thedisplay.

If the device was still switched on whenyou removed the control panel, it willautomatically switch on again with thelast settings activated (i.e. radio, CD,MMC/SD, CD changer/Compact DriveMP3 or AUX) when the panel is re-placed.

Adjusting the volumeThe volume can be adjusted in stepsfrom 0 (off) to 50 (maximum).

To increase the volume, turn thevolume control 2 to the right.

To decrease the volume, turn thevolume control 2 to the left.

Setting the power-on volumeYou can set the unit’s default power-onvolume.

Press the MENU button 8.

Keep pressing the or button: until “ON VOLUME” appears inthe display.

Set the power-on volume using the and buttons :.

Note: To protect your hearing, the power-

on volume is limited to a value of“40”.

When you have finished making yourchanges,

press the MENU button 8 or OK; twice.

Instantaneously reducing thevolume (mute)This feature allows you to instantane-ously reduce the volume (mute).

Briefly press button 3.

“MUTE” appears in the display.

Switching on/offThere are various ways of switching theunit on/off:

Switching on/off using the vehicleignitionIf the unit is correctly connected to thevehicle’s ignition and it was not switchedoff using button 3, it will switch on/offsimultaneously with the ignition.

You can switch the unit on even if theignition is off:

To do so, press button 3.

Note: To protect the vehicle battery, the

unit will switch off automatically af-ter one hour if the ignition is off.

Switching on/off using theremovable control panel

Remove the control panel.

The unit switches off.

Attach the control panel again.

The unit switches on. The last settings((i.e. radio, CD, MMC/SD, CD changer/Compact Drive MP3 or AUX) will be re-activated.

To switch the unit off, press button3 for longer than two seconds.

The unit switches off.

Cancelling muteTo cancel mute,

briefly press button 3 while inmute mode.

Playback is resumed.

Telephone audio / navigationaudioIf your car radio is connected to a mo-bile telephone or a navigation system,the unit’s volume will be muted as soonas you “pick up” the telephone or assoon as a navigation announcement ismade. The caller or voice output willthen be heard over the car radio loud-speakers. In order for this to work, themobile telephone or navigation systemmust be connected to the car radio inthe manner described in the installationinstructions.

You can find out from your Blaupunktdealer which navigation systems can beused with your car radio.

If a traffic information message is re-ceived during a telephone call or whilsta navigation announcement is beingmade, the traffic message will only beplayed after the call or voice output isfinished.

You can set the volume level at whichtelephone calls and the navigation voiceoutput will first be heard.


Keep pressing the or button: until “TEL/NAVI VOL” appearsin the display.

Set the required volume using the and buttons :.

When you have finished makingyour changes, press the MENUbutton 8 or OK ; twice.

Note: Using the volume control 2, you

can directly adjust the volume ofthe current telephone call or cur-rent navigation voice output whilstit is being outputted.

Automatic soundThis feature automatically adjusts thevolume of the car audio system to suitthe speed at which the vehicle is travel-ling. In order for this to work, your caraudio system must be connected in themanner described in the installation in-structions.

The automatic volume adjustment fea-ture can be adjusted in six steps from(0 to 5).


Press the button : repeatedlyuntil “AUTO SOUND” appears inthe display.

Set the volume adjustment usingthe and buttons :.

When you have finished makingyour changes, press the MENUbutton 8 or OK ;.

Note: The optimum setting for the speed-

related volume adjustment featuredepends on how noise levels de-velop in your particular vehicle. Youwill need to test various settings inorder to find out which is best suit-ed to your vehicle.

Confirmation beepFor some functions you will hear a con-firmation beep if you keep a buttonpressed for longer than two seconds,e.g. when storing a radio station to astation button.

DAB modeYou can enjoy radio in digital audio qual-ity thanks to DAB (Digital Audio Broad-cast).

Note: You need a special DAB antenna

in order to operate the WoodstockDAB 53. This can either be a sepa-rate DAB roof antenna or a DAB/AM/FM combination antenna. Youcan obtain further information fromyour Blaupunkt dealer.

Switching to DAB modeIf you are in radio, CD, MMC/SD, CDchanger, Microdrive™ or AUX mode,

press the DAB•TS button 4.

In contrast to standard radio broadcast-ing, there are always several pro-grammes broadcast over the same fre-quency in the case of DAB. These pro-grammes are arranged in “Ensembles”.One ensemble always contains sever-al programmes.

In turn, a programme can additionallycontain up to twelve sub-programmes.In the case of a sports station, for in-stance, various sports events can bebroadcast simultaneously as sub-pro-grammes. If a program provides sub-programmes, a star symbol is displayednext to the memory bank (D1, D2, D3or DT).

DAB also offers further advantages:

NEWS:News reports (NEWS) are providedin addition to the traffic announce-ments. If you wish, you can allowthe news reports to be played.

WEATHER:Weather reports (WEATHER) areprovided in addition to the trafficannouncements. If you wish, youcan allow the weather reports to beplayed.

If you wish to receive weather reports,select “DAB_WEAT_ON”. If you do notwish to receive weather reports, select“DAB_WEAT_OFF”.



Note:You can interrupt a news or weatherreport whilst it is being played by press-ing the TRAF button >. The generalpriority settings are retained and thenext report will be played.

DAB Regional (TA-REG):

Since DAB frequencies are broad-cast over a large area of the coun-try, the situation may arise wherebyyou receive traffic announcementsthat are irrelevant for your region.In order to avoid this, the DABbroadcasting ranges are dividedinto regions.

Switching TA-REG on/off Press the MENU button 8.

Keep pressing the or button: until “DAB_TREG_OFF” or“DAB_TREG_ON” appears in thedisplay.

If you wish to receive announcementsthat apply to particular regions, select“DAB_TREG_ON”. If you only wish toreceive non-regional announcements,select “DAB_TREG_OFF”.



Note: Since this function is not supported

by all broadcasters, it is possiblethat you will not receive any trafficannouncements if the TA-REGfunction is activated. If you do notreceive any traffic announcements

Selecting the memory bankThis device lets you store DAB pro-grammes in four memory banks (D1,D2, D3 and DT).

Five programmes can be stored in eachmemory bank.

To switch between the memorybanks, briefly press the DAB•TSbutton 4.

Tuning into ensemblesWith DAB, several programmes on onefrequency are always combined in an“ensemble”.

Selecting an ensembleYou can directly select ensembles thatyou have received once already (for thisto work, the ensemble must be receiv-able).

Briefly press the button :.

The name of the current ensemble isdisplayed. Briefly press the or button :

again whilst the ensemble name isbeing displayed.

The name of the next or previous knownensemble is displayed. The first availa-ble programme in the ensemble isplayed.

Ensemble seek tuningYou can find new ensembles using seektuning.

For seek tuning downwards or up-wards, press the or button :for longer than two seconds.

The unit tunes into the next receivableensemble. The ensemble name is brief-ly displayed. The first available pro-gramme in the ensemble is played.

Tuning into stations manuallyYou can also tune into ensembles man-ually.

Press the or button : duringseek tuning.

You can now tune the radio manu-ally using the or button :.

Selecting programmesAfter you have tuned into an ensemble,you can select one of the ensemble’sprogrammes.

Select one of the ensemble’s pro-grammes using the buttons:.

Tune into the required ensemble.

Select the programme that youwant to store.

Press one of the 1 - 5 station but-tons > for longer than two sec-onds to store the programme tothat button.

Storing programmes automatically(Travelstore)You can automatically store the first fiveprogrammes of the current ensemble inthe “DT” memory bank.

Note: Any programmes that were previ-

ously stored in this memory bankare deleted in the process.

Press and hold down the DAB•TSbutton 4 for longer than two sec-onds.

The storing procedure begins. “TRAV-EL STORE” appears in the display. Af-ter the process is completed, the pro-gramme that is stored in location 1 inthe “DT” memory bank will be played.

Accessing stored programmes Select the memory bank.

Press the station button 1 - 5 >that corresponds to the programmeyou require.

Setting the country/regionYou must set your location in the de-vice’s menu to either Europe or Cana-da. If you are operating the device inEurope, you must always set“EUROPE”. If you do not do this, youmight not be able to receive any DABensembles or programmes.


Keep pressing the or button: until “AREA EUROPE” or“AREA CANADA” appears in thedisplay.

Press the or button : toswitch between “EUROPE” and“CANADA”.

Press the MENU button 8 or OK;.

Setting the DAB wavebandWith the Woodstock DAB53, you canreceive DAB programmes and ensem-bles on the following wavebands: “BandIII” (174 - 240 MHz) and “L-Band” (1452-1491 MHz). Since some countries donot use both wavebands, you can speedup seek tuning by excluding the unsup-ported waveband.


Keep pressing the or button: until “DAB BAND” appears inthe display.

Press the or button : toswitch between “BAND L”, “BANDIII” and “BOTH”.

If “BAND L” or “BAND III” are set, onlythe selected waveband will be used. If“BOTH” is set, both wavebands will beused.


Note: If the region is set to “AREA

CANADA”, only “BAND L” isavailable.

Switching between DAB and FMYou can select various settings forswitching between the DAB and FMradio modes It might be necessary toswitch from DAB to FM radio if DAB re-ception quality decreases severely.

If you select the “DAB-FM-AUTO” set-ting, the unit automatically tunes into theFM frequency of the programme cur-rently being received (in so far as theprogramme is also receivable on FM),or it tunes into the DAB programme ofthe FM station that is currently tuned (inso far as the station is also available asa DAB programme).

If “DAB-FM-MAN” is set, the unit tunesinto the FM frequency of the receivedDAB programme as soon as you man-ually switch to FM radio mode (in so faras the station is receivable on FM).

If you set “DAB-FM-OFF”, the FM sta-tion that you listened to last will beplayed when you switch to FM radiomode (in so far as the station can stillbe received).


Keep pressing the or button: until “DAB-FM” appears in thedisplay.

Press the or button : toswitch between settings.

Press the MENU button 8 or OK; twice.

DAB service followingIf the reception quality of the programmebeing received decreases, the Wood-stock DAB53 can automatically tune tothe programme in another ensemble (ifavailable). For this feature to work,“Service following” must be activated.

Switching service following on/offTo use service following,

briefly press the RDS•SF ? buttonin DAB mode.

If service following is activated, the RDSsymbol lights up in the display when inDAB mode.

To deactivate service following,

briefly press the RDS•SF ? buttonagain in DAB mode.

Service following is deactivated whenthe RDS symbol disappears.

DAB sub-programmesSome DAB programmes include sub-programmes. Programmes that containsub-programmes are marked with a “*”in front of the programme name. If aprogramme includes sub-programmes,you are able to tune into them.

Selecting sub-programmesTo switch between the sub-programmesof a programme that you are tuned into,you must first switch to sub-programmemode,

briefly press the button :.

The name of the sub-programme is dis-played.

If you want to leave the sub-programmemode,

Note: Sub-programmes are so far only

supported by a few broadcasters.

DAB radiotextIn addition to their programmes, somestations broadcast additional informa-tion (e.g. news) as scrolling text in thedisplay. The DAB radiotext function isactivated at the factory by default. Sincedisplaying radiotexts can distract youfrom the current road and traffic situa-tion, we ask you kindly to deactivate the“DAB radiotext” function or to use it onlywhilst the vehicle is stationary.


Keep pressing the or button: until “RADIOTXT ON” or“RADIOTXT OFF” appears in thedisplay.

Press the or button : toswitch between “RADIOTXT ON”or “RADIOTXT OFF”.


Radio modeThis unit is equipped with an RDS radioreceiver. Many of the receivable FM sta-tions transmit a signal that not only car-ries the programme but also additionalinformation such as the station nameand programme type (PTY).The station name appears in the dis-play as soon as it is received.

Switching to radio modeIf you are in CD, CD changer or AUXmode,

press the BND•TS button 5.

Convenient RDS functions(AF, REG)The convenient RDS functions AF (Al-ternative Frequency) and REG (Region-al) extend your radio’s range of func-tions.

AF: If this RDS function is activat-ed, the unit automatically tunes intothe best receivable frequency forthe station that is currently set.

PTY-EONIf you specify the programme type andstart seek tuning, the unit will switch fromthe current station to a station of theselected programme type.

Note: If no station is found that corre-

sponds to the selected programmetype, you will hear a beep and “NOPTY” appears briefly in the display.The radio will then retune to thestation that was received last.

TMC for dynamic navigationsystemsTMC stands for “Traffic Message Chan-nel.” Traffic information announcementsare broadcast digitally using TMC, whichmeans they can be used by compatiblenavigation systems during route plan-ning. Your car radio has a TMC outputwhich you can use for connecting Blau-punkt navigation systems. You can findout from your Blaupunkt dealer whichnavigation systems can be used withyour car radio.

If a navigation system is connected anda TMC station is being received, TMClights up in the display.

If dynamic navigation is active, a TMCstation will be tuned into automatically.

Note: If the TMC function of a connected

MP3 modeOn the Woodstock DAB53 you can alsoplay CD-Rs containing MP3 music files.

MP3 is a process developed by theFraunhofer Institute for compressing CDaudio data. Compression allows data tobe reduced to around 10% of their orig-inal size without a noticeable loss inquality (at a bit rate of 128 Kbit/s). If alower bit rate is used to convert CD au-dio data to MP3, you can create small-er files but there will be a loss in quality.

Preparing the MP3 CDThe various combinations of CD burn-ers, CD burning software and CD blanksmay lead to problems arising with theability to play certain CDs. If problemsoccur with your own burned CDs, youshould try another brand of CD blank orchoose another blank colour. Best re-sults are achieved with CD blanks thatprovide 74 minutes of playing time.

The format of the CD must be ISO 9660Level 1 or Level 2. Other formats can-not be played reliably.

Avoid multi-sessions. If you write morethan one session to the CD, only thefirst session will be detected.

In order to avoid overly long accesstimes, you should not create more than20 directories on any MP3-CD that youwant to play on the Woodstock DAB53(though a maximum of 254 directoriesare technically possible). These direc-tories can be individually selected on theWoodstock DAB53.

Since using some burner software canlead to inconsistencies in the way itemsare numbered, you should ensure thatthe root directory D01 either containsonly subdirectories containing tracks(Fig. 1) or only tracks (Fig. 2).

Each track can be named using the PC.

The directory name can be displayedin the Woodstock DAB53 display. Namethe directories and tracks using your CDburner software. The software’s oper-ating instructions will provide details onhow to do this.

Note: When naming directories and

tracks you should avoid using spe-cial characters.

If you like your files to be in the correctorder, you should use burner softwarethat places files in alphanumerical or-der. If your software does not providethis feature, you can also sort the filesmanually. To do so, you should place anumber (e.g. “001”, “002”, etc.) beforeeach file number – the leading zerosmust also be included.

Each track can be given a name (IDtag). The track’s name can also beshown in the display.

When creating (encoding) MP3 filesfrom the audio files, you should use bitrates up to a maximum of 256 kB/sec.

Only MP3 files with the “.MP3” file ex-tension can be played on the Wood-stock DAB53.

Note:To ensure uninterrupted playback,

do not attempt to change the fileextension to “.MP3” of any files oth-er than MP3 files and then attemptto play them!

Do not use “mixed” CDs containingnon-MP3 data and MP3 tracks.

Do not use mix-mode CDs contain-ing audio tracks and MP3 tracks.

Programming your favouritetracks for an MP3-CDUsing the TPM function (Track ProgramMemory), you can program and playyour favourite tracks for a particular CD.You can carry out the programming inany order you like, however, the trackswill always be played in ascending or-der. If you have set the device to playyour favourite tracks, only the previouslyprogrammed tracks on the current MP3-CD will be played. The list of favouritetracks will be deleted when you removethe CD.

Programming favourite tracksTo program your favourite tracks for aCD, proceed as follows:

Select your first favourite track.

Press button 1 > for longer thantwo seconds.

“STORED” appears in the display. Thetrack has now been added to the list offavourite tracks for this CD.

Continue in the same way for yourremaining favourite tracks on theCD.

Switching TPM on/offTo switch the TPM function on/off,

press button 1 > repeatedly until“TPM ON” or “TPM OFF” appearsin the display.

If no tracks are programmed, an appro-priate notice will be displayed.

Deleting individual tracks from a listYou can delete individual tracks from alist of favourite tracks.

MMC/SD modeYou can play MP3 files on an MMC/SD(Multi-Media Card / Secure Digital) us-ing the Woodstock DAB53. You canwrite data to the MMC/SDs that youwant to use with the Woodstock DAB53with the help of a standard MMC/SDread/write device and your PC.

Note: Please note that when you prepare

the MMC/SD, you must observethe directory structure rules as de-scribed in the “MP3 mode” chapter.

In order to optimise access to MMCs/SDs, you should store no more than 20directories and a maximum of 200 fileson an MMC/SD.

Inserting/removing an MMC/SDThe MMC/SD compartment is to the leftbelow the CD compartment. To insert/remove an MMC/SD, you first have toremove the flip-release panel. To do so,please refer to the “Removable controlpanel” chapter.

Before starting to record, you shouldmake sure that there is sufficient spaceon the inserted MMC/SD and that theMMC/SD does not have more than 254directories stored on it.

The only supported file system for mak-ing recordings is FAT16. If you attemptto record onto an MMC/SD that is for-matted differently, you will see “UNFOR-MATTED” appear in the display. In this

Blaupunkt cannot guarantee the correctfunctioning of all MMCs/SDs due to thelarge number of MMCs/SDs availableon the market and the varying qualitystandards applied by manufacturers.The recording function provided by theWoodstock DAB53 was tested usingMMCs/SDs with capacities up to256 MB manufactured by “Sandisk”(www.sandisk.com).

Blaupunkt recommends SandiskMMCs/SDs up to 256 MB for re-cording using the WoodstockDAB 53.

If you want to use a read/write de-vice for formatting and editingMMCs/SDs, we recommend youuse read/write devices manufac-tured bySandisk (www.sandisk.com),Retec (www.retec-gmbh.de) orDazzle (www.dazzle.de).

Starting recordingTo store a DAB programme on an MMC/SD,

switch to DAB mode and select theprogramme that you want torecord. For further details, read thechapter entitled “DAB mode”.

Press the OK button ; when youwant to start recording.

Notes: To avoid damaging the MMC/SD,

you should never start the enginewhilst recording. Starting the en-gine might cause the voltage of thevehicle’s electrical system to drop,which could permanently damagethe MMC/SD.

The automatic DAB-FM switchingfeature is deactivated whilst record-ing is taking place. The DAB pro-gramme remains tuned during re-cording, even if the reception quali-ty deteriorates.

Recording starts, “RECORDING” ap-pears for 2 seconds in the display, andthen an “R” appears in front of the pro-gramme name for the duration of therecording.

If there is not sufficient space availableon the card, “CARD FULL” is displayedfor 2 seconds in the display. If this is thecase, delete some tracks from the MMC/SD (see “Deleting recordings” below) orinsert another MMC/SD.

The file created during recording isgiven a name as follows:ddhhmmss.mp3. “dd” stands for theday the recording was made, “hh”stands for the hour recording was start-ed, “mm” stands for minutes and “ss”for seconds.

The device creates the “DAB_DIR” di-rectory on the MMC/SD for the record-ed files.

Tel/ navi during recordingTelephone calls or voice output do notaffect recording. The DAB programmecontinues to be recorded in the back-ground during a telephone call or voiceoutput.

Stopping recordingIf you want to stop recording,

briefly press the OK button ;.

“RECORD STOP” appears for two sec-onds in the display.

Recording is stopped automatically inthe following cases:

If the storage space provided bythe MMC/SD fills completely duringrecording. In this case, “CARDFULL” appears in the display.

If you switch programmes duringthe recording.

If a problem arises with communi-cations between the MMC/SD andthe device, you will see “MMC ER-ROR” appear in the display. Re-cording is then stopped.

If you deactivate DAB mode whilstrecording, e.g. by switching to CDmode or radio mode.

Playing recordings using the deviceYou can listen to the recording by se-lecting its corresponding file name in the“DAB_DIR” directory on the MMC/SD.For further details on this, please referto the sections entitled “Selecting a di-rectory” and “Selecting tracks” at thestart of the chapter. If you switch to MMCmode after making a recording, the de-

vice will start playing the track that wasrecorded first. To select the track thatwas recorded last, press the buttonas soon as playback begins.

Playing recordings on other devicesYou can also play the recordings on yourPC. To do so, you need an MMC/SDread/write device and a player softwareapplication. You can also listen to re-cordings on players that can readMMCs/SDs.

Notes: Even though the file is not an MP3

file, it still has the “.mp3” file exten-sion. Since all standard player soft-ware applications support Layer 2files, you can play them on a com-puter. If you experience problemswhen playing the files on anotherdevice, please check that the de-vice is compatible with Layer 2.

The Woodstock DAB53 uses spe-cial algorithms for playing DAB pro-grammes in order to ensure an op-timum listening experience even ifyou are playing material that wasrecorded during poor reception. PCprogrammes do not use specialsignal processing, which meansthat files may sound different whenlistened to on a computer, e.g. er-rors are not suppressed and distor-tion may occur.

Deleting recordingsYou can delete individual files that arestored on an MMC/SD.

Listen to the track that you want todelete from the MMC/SD.

Repeat this procedure with all thetracks that you want to delete.

Formatting MMCs/SDsYou can format an MMC/SD in the de-vice. All the data that are stored on itare deleted in the process.

Note: You should format the MMC/SD in

the device to ensure card compati-bility with the device.

The card can only be formatted in AUX,DAB and FM mode.

Switch to FM radio mode. For fur-ther details, read the chapter enti-tled “Radio mode”.

Naming CDsYou can also name CDs in CD changermode (not in the case of the CompactDrive MP3).

To name CDs in the CD changer,

select the “CDC NAME” item in themenu.

CD names in CD changer mode can bea maximum of seven characters long,and up to 99 names can be stored.

Deleting a CD nameYou can quickly and easily delete a CDname.

Listen to the CD whose name youwant to delete.

Keep the MENU button 8 presseddown for longer than four secondsuntil “DELETE NAME” appears.

The name of the current CD will be de-leted.

Briefly displaying the time To display the time, briefly press

the / DIS button 7.

Setting the clockThe time can be set automatically us-ing the RDS signal. If you are unable toreceive an RDS station or the stationyou are listening to does not support thisfunction, it is also possible for you to setthe clock manually.

Setting the clock automatically

To set the time automatically, pressthe MENU button 8.

Press the button : repeatedlyuntil “CLK MAN” (manual) or “CLKAUTO” (automatic) appears on thedisplay.

LoudnessIf loudness is activated, the bass andtreble levels are aurally compensated,i.e. they are boosted at low volume lev-els.

The loudness boost can be set in stepsranging from 0 to 6. If you select the 0setting, the loudness function will bedeactivated.



Press the button : repeatedlyuntil “LOUDNESS” appears in thedisplay.

Press the or button : to ad-just the boost level.

The selected boost level appears in thedisplay alongside “LOUD”. “LOUD 6” isthe maximum boost level; “LOUD 0”means that loudness is deactivated.

EqualizerThis unit is equipped with a parametricdigital equalizer. In this case, paramet-ric means that one frequency can beincreased or decreased (GAIN +8 to -8) individually for each of the five filters.

The following filters are available:

SUB LOW EQ 32 - 50 Hz

LOW EQ 63 - 250 Hz

MID EQ 315 - 1,250 Hz

MID HIGH EQ 1,600 - 6,300 Hz

HIGH EQ 8,000 - 12,500 Hz

These filters can be set without the needfor measuring equipment. They will al-low you to significantly influence thesound characteristics in your vehicle.

Notes on adjusting the settingsWe recommend you use a CD that youare familiar with for making changes tothe settings.

Before adjusting the equalizer, set thesound and volume distribution settingsto zero and deactivate loudness. Forfurther details, refer to the chapter enti-tled “Sound and volume distribution set-tings”.

When you are not changing any set-tings, the spectrometer can display thecar radio’s output level. To activate thisfeature, you must switch on the spec-trometer.
