    Issue 13 Friday 25th June 2010 Next issue: 02/07/10

Last Thursday everyone in the upper

school dressed up as a character who

Lived, Worked or even visited the Langton

area. We saw all sorts of different costumes

worn on the day, from Roman citizens to

maids who would have worked here at the

time of the Norcliffes. Mr Mills, the organ-

izer of the event said: It was great to see the

Pupils imagination, and to see the variety

of costumes from different periods of time.

Mr England and the rest of the staff also

    enjoyed the day.

Open day and Summer FeteBY ZAC WOOLLEY, YEAR 6

On Saturday the 19th July we had a lot of

visitors come and look around school. One

particular visitor whose name was David

Moore was actually an old pupil of the

school. There were three presentations from

the historical society and they went espe-cially well. The reason for the open day was

for new people to have a look around but

also for their parents to see the school and

what it has to offer. It was a great hit and

because of the advertising poster on the

crossroads, lots of people turned up. The

year sevens caf was an excellent set up

and the guests at the open day all sat down

and had a coffee or a croissant. All of the

parents enjoyed their visit and the wholemorning was very good. Mr Tolkien's ex-

cellent Prospectus was very popular and

gave out lots of interesting information.

Following on from the open day was the

summer fete, with stalls all over the back

lawn and the rose garden. The summer fete

    scooters on it

was just as successful as the open day and

when Mr Mills put out some of his war

gaming figures, they were all gone after

about five minutes. The BB gun shooting

stall was very popular with the older chil-

dren in the school and the golf chipping

stall was so nail biting that it actually went

down to a draw between Mr Saunders and

Jonty Megginson. In the end they called it

quits and both took a prize home. Another

extremely exciting but hilarious stall was

the ball throwing stall, which Antonia

Selvey and her friend Luke set up. Overall

the whole day was packed with opportu-

nity and excitement and was a brilliant way

    to have fun.

    Sports Day

Special thanks to everybody else who wasinvolved.

Last Friday Woodleigh had sports day

which is an annual event . Lots of parents

turned up and, as it is every year the tug of

war was very popular and funny. Even

more hilarious was when the parents

started doing tug of war, with people flying

around left right and backwards. Mikey,

year 8, says:It was a very enjoyable event

and I will be sad to leave it. The events

were very fair this year, with everyone be-ing allowed to do an event they want to do,

rather than what their house captains tell-

ing them to. There were people who just

wanted a quick sprint of 80m to elites doing

    events like 1500m.Cameron Castleton,

    1500m runner says, the 1500 metres wasn't

very successful since only three of us did it,

and there should have been more of us.

The three that did it were: Beau Wyatt,

Cameron Castleton and Frankie Cheung.North won the event overall but everyone

performed very well from all the houses.
