DESIGNED BY NEALAY PATEL
“Bright, colorful and copper. What more do
I need to say! I was inspired by earthy colors
and the stitched knitted wire that showcases
the beautiful cabochons, which are as blue
as the dancing tides of the ocean.”

EARRNG 1. Using E6000 glue, adhere the 18mm cabochons to the
suede. Allow the glue to dry, and trim the suede to 2mm
around the stone. Cut a 4-in. (10cm) piece of the knitted
wire and make a teardrop shape. Attach the end cap to
both ends of the knitted wire (A).
2. Cut a 30-in. (76cm) piece of beading thread. Thread a
beading needle and place a bead stopper in the center.
Sew through the suede and knitted wire from the center
backside of the stone. Pick up an 8º copper seed bead, a
bicone crystal, an 11º transparent olive AB seed bead, a
lentil and two miniduos. Sew through the second hole of
the last miniduo (B).
Note: I used straight pins to hold my stone and knitted wire
in place as I made the picot stitches.
3. Pick up an 11º copper seed bead and sew through the
second hole of the first miniduo. Sew through both miniduo
holes that are below the 11º copper seed bead (C).

4. Sew through the second hole of the lentil, and pick up an
11º olivine. Sew through the bicone, 8º, knitted wire and the
suede (D). You have just completed one picot stitch.
5. Measure 2mm from the last picot stitch and go through
the suede and knitted wire and repeat the picot stitch two
more times, then make a smaller picot: pick up an 8º and an
11º copper and sew back through the 8º, knitted wire and
suede (E). Repeat the smaller picot stitch four more times
and secure the thread.
6. Repeat the step 5 for the other half of the stone to
complete the earring.
7. Make a second earring.
