Woodform brought concealed fixing tongue-and-groove cladding to Australia. In Europe timber cladding is perennially popular, we took

cladding to the next level and Australian architects fell in love all over again.

Expression Cladding has breathed new life into cladding, with the introduction of shiplap cladding in a range of sleek and modern profiles, timbers and finishes.

With so much choice and flexibility, it’s no wonder architects approve.

Expression Cladding is amazingly flexible and functional, but here at Woodform Architectural we never rest on our laurel’s, we had to ask ourselves: how can we double-down on what made Expression Cladding so popular in the first place? How can we expand on the already vast range of options and make it more versatile than ever?

Turns out the answer is deceptively simple: what about the fourth dimension? With the brand new ‘Element’ profile and a range of new sizes adding depth to our standard profiles, Expression Cladding has entered the fourth dimension.

Now you can add ribs, furrows, and varied depths right across your cladding. Used vertically or horizontally, this new dimension of depth can be combined with board widths, timbers, and finishes to create a signature cladding texture that is all your own. The sky is truly the limit.

Timber expands and contracts as moisture is retained and lost within the cell walls. Movement in timber is inevitable: it cannot be avoided, it must be accepted and accounted for. Only Expression Cladding is profiled to allow for natural timber movement.

Woodform has applied evidence based design to timber cladding and developed a series of tongue and groove cladding designs that apply the latest scientific research into timber movement and allow for the right amount of shrinkage and expansion.

Here at Woodform Architectural, we believe in giving adventurous designers the freedom to

express their creative intent through a seamless combination of modular concealed fixing and a

wide range of linear textures.

Be daring! Be bold! Be unique! Don’t ask whether it can be done, ask why it can’t.

The material should become an extension of the designers vision, without the vagaries of technical

limitations holding you back.

To the absolute limit of possibility, that is our intention with Expression Cladding. Incorporate any combination of cladding profile, timber, and

finish to create your own design signature in interior or exterior applications.

When applying timber cladding in harsh environments it is important to consider movement. Woodform has curated a range of low-shrinkage timber species such as Burnt Ash (pictured) for sun-exposed applications, to reduce the risk of problems occurring.

QueenscliffInspired by Lego blocks, this minimal square design is available in a large range of sizes, giving designers complete freedom. The slim, shadow lines can be used to create a myriad of textures, from a 3D random block effect to a linear sea of fine lines.

Suitable for vertical and horizontal use in partly-shaded exteriors and interiors.

Element Element was developed in direct response to designers asking for a way to include deep battens within a cladding facade. The solution is an aluminium extrusion element that allows a deep batten to be integrated with the Queenscliff Profile.

With Element you can produce virtually any texture you want by mixing the sizes from the Element and Queenscliff ranges. This new level of freedom adds an unprecedented new type of depth to your facade, allowing you to play with shadow. It really is a ‘4th dimension’.

Suitable for interiors, or partly shaded exteriors vertically.

WhitsundayWhitsunday is a relaxed and expressive profile suited to coastal designs. Combating wind and rain, the steeply-sloping bottom edge of the shadow line allows water to drain away more rapidly, reducing the amount of moisture driven up over the tongue and into the wall cavity.

Suitable for horizontal use in exteriors and interiors.

Interior Finishes

Our pre-finishing for interiors employs water-based coatings, a process that creates time and labour-saving efficiencies with the bulk of preparation completed prior to delivery on-site. Pre-finishing for interiors delivers a sophisticated matte result and we are also able to do colour matching, ensuring that continuity of shade and tone be achieved.

Exterior Finishes

Pre-finishing for exterior timber is a relatively new concept. Our range for exteriors includes oil and film coatings, and we are proud to lead the way with Dulux, Australia’s most-advanced paint company. The savings are significant, moving the bulk of preparation to the factory and leading to increased efficiency on-site.

Pre-finishing eliminates the process of finishing on-site prior to installation, protecting the timber during construction and saving on preparation time and costs. Working with Dulux, we use the latest technology water-based coatings for safety and sustainability. Woodform can create virtually any finish type, including rough-sawn and wire-brushed textures.

Expression cladding has two types of end matching: standard and Queenscliff. Standard end matching can be used with all profiles (including Queenscliff) and performs the role of creating a neat, seamless linear effect. Queenscliff end matching was introduced specifically for the new Queenscliff profile and when designers want to create a pronounced shadow line block effect.

Expression Cladding End Matching was designed so boards could be joined off-stud, a time and labour-saving innovation that removes the need for measuring and cutting on the stud.

End matching slashes wastage from 10% to less than 2%*, and the design facilitates water run-off when used vertically.
