Wood Shop Safety

When you are wood working tools and machinery, it is important for you to perform safe so as to avoid mishaps and accidents.

Overview Almost all of us make use of hand tools

either at workplace or at home while trying to repair things on your own.

Studies suggest approximately 8% of the industrial accidents took place due to unsafe handling of the wood working tools.

The main reason behind these accidents is the usage of tools incorrectly, failing to wear personal protective, etc.

What You need to know- Before you start on any wood working

project, know the purpose and usage of each tool.

Do not use any tool unless you are trained to use it.

Inspect tools carefully before you start work and repair and fix if damaged.

Keep your tools clean after every use. Never keep sharp or pointed tools in your

pocket.

What you need to know- Do not throw tools from one location to

another while transferring. Always wear protective clothes and

equipment's before you start your work. Keep pointing and sharp tools away

from your body. Perform wood task in such a way that it

is safe not only for you but also for others.

Hammers Never strike nails with the “Cheek” of

the hammer. Do not try to use it as a wedge.

Saws While using it, always make use of the

vise and hold the work piece tight against the table.

Release the pressure downward when you make stroke to keep the control of the saws.

Screwdrivers Never hold the working piece against your body

when you are using a screwdriver as it may harm you.

Do not screwdriver as a punch, pry ball, chisel or a nail puller.

As there are many sizes available, always use the one that best suits your purpose.
