Genre film is a term for movie to carry the intent of connecting into a cinematic genre, so that the particular fan of that genre can appeal to their favourite. Directors search for fresh and new ways to present their film, so they combine and divide the genre of the film to tell stories. Example of genre film is action film, horror film, mystery film, romance film, science fiction film and more. According to the TGV cinema survey, the musical based film have a higher rating on every age category. As musical film may brings out the heart-tugging story and drama. The mellifluous of soundtrack will attract audiences’ attention and they can belt out the song with the fellow viewers. The Disney company make a good strike on producing musical based movie. And now, I'm going to discuss about the differences of two movies, Frozen the film had great potential to be a success and the most outstanding musical film High school musical. Both films content different background and lifestyle of the protagonist, music genre, target audiences and mood in the film. !

Frozen Elsa and High School Musical Troy Bolton both have different background and lifestyle. First of all, Elsa is a princess in Kingdom of Arendelle. She has the ability of creating ice and snow. Elsa stay a distance away from her sister Anna as she accidentally hurt Anna. Tragically, her parents died in the middle of the ocean. Elsa tok her father’s place as Queen of Arendelle. At the coronation party, her sister Anna met Prince Hans and she immediately falls in love with him and she wants to marry him after he proposes. Elsa does not agree to the marriage and she accidentally loses control over her powers and she unintentionally revealed her abilities. After this accident, she decided to left Arendelle and starts her life in a icy castle. Elsa is afraid of people and lonely after all this incident that had happen to her. On the other hand, the background of Troy Bolton is the complete opposite. He is the captain of the school’s varsity basketball team. He also involve in school’s golf team. This perfect guy meets his first love Gabriella at a New Year’s Eve karaoke party. However Troy wants Gabriella not to mention his singing performance to anyone, as he is afraid of what people around him wold think, especially his father. !

Music is like a element of the classic and spinal of musical. In the film Frozen, every audience was addicted to a song called ‘Let it go’. The composer is a couple songwriting team Kristen Anderson-Lopez and Robert Lopez. Performer of this song is Idina Menzel in her vocal role as Queen Elsa. They do compose a slightly different pop version of soundtrack and which was performed by a former Disney channel star and singer Demi Lovato. Disney company released a multi-language version of this soundtrack, and featured

over 25 different of voice actresses which who portrayed Elsa. Surprisingly, the 86th Academy Award gave Disney a gift, The soundtrack had gain itself a medal which is ‘Academy Award for Best Original Song’. Nevertheless, there is no special title song for High School Musical but the do have three album in a row, and total up they have 28 songs in this three album. !

Both film is under different category and they have their target audiences. Frozen is showing the value of family loyalty and not everything is what it seem. Parents may brings their children to enjoy this education-able film. From the heart-tugging stories and heart-warming moment to the amazing soundtrack and stunning animation. Frozen has captured young lady as the stories is a converse compare to those typically Disney princess movies, although the protagonist remain the true of aesthetic but she still have flaws personalities, it encourages female viewers. The marketing team had done a great job, as they not only attracted the young lady and children’s attention, but the golden age viewers. In the meantime, High School Musical shows the positive message of being true to yourself and encourage you to step out form your comfort zone. The main female lead is a scholar in the school, but she is shy. At the first night, She met Troy and they was selected to perform on the stage, at first Gabriella have no self-confidence but she still go up onto the stage. Basically, High School Musical is more suitable for teenagers than reaching puberty. The marketing team promote merchandise and DVD to draw people attention to this musical. !

Last but not least, Tone in film refers to the feeling and atmosphere of the film towards the audience. where as mood refers to the feeling or atmosphere that the audience feels towards the film. As if the film that have a good atmosphere, it will influent audiences’s emotions. Frozen show the feeling of ‘love’ between Anna and Elsa, Anna was cursed to show or kiss her truelove, so that she can melt her icy heart. Frozen also features a romance between Anna and Kristoff, who joins Anna on her journey of retrieving her sister (Bean,2013). On the contrary, High School Musical filled with happiness atmosphere. During the song-and-dance-filled musical numbers including "Breaking Free," "Start of Something New," and "We're All in This Together" the movie sometimes feels more like a music video. !

As a conclusion, both films has different background and lifestyle of the main character , type of music, target audiences and feeling in the film. Personally, musical film is my all time favourite movie, the stunning animation and motion, the fantastic soundtrack are the reason that i pick musical film

over other genre of film. The lifestyle of the protagonist had taught me many values. !
