Fort Edmonton Park, which is Canada’s largest living history museum is located in the middle of the river valley.

Edmonton’s downtown Arts District recently received a boost with the opening of the new Art Gallery of Alberta in early 2010. The arts district is also home to the Citadel Theatre and Francis Winspear Centre for Music.

Millennium Place is the perfect venue for the Women’s World Wrestling Championships in 2012. As the host of the 2004 Team Canada Olympic Wrestling Trials, the 2007 Western Canada Summer Games, the 2008 Women’s Olympic Trials and several Provincial Wrestling Championships, Millennium Place has the experience to make this a world-class event. Athletes would also have the opportunity to enjoy the other recreation and fitness amenities Millennium Place offers to cross-train.

Millennium Place is a state-of-the-art multipurpose recreation facility featuring an aquatic and fitness centre, a 235 metre fitness track, gymnasium, twin arena with leisure ice, and a field house/special event centre.

The aquatics centre features a wave pool, whirlpool, steamroom, sauna, lazy river, 10-lane, 25-metre lap pool & water playground.

Sherwood Park Sports Physiotherapy is located in Millennium Place. They offer manual “hands on” treatment, acupuncture or intramuscular needling (IMS), taping/padding/splinting, chiropractic care and massage therapy.

On behalf of the Organizing Committee, we are pleased to host the 2012 World Women’s Wrestling Championships in Strathcona County, Alberta. We have experience hosting a number of national and international events including the 2008 Women’s Olympic Qualification Tournament, 2004 Team Canada Olympic Trials, 2002 World University Wrestling Championships, and the 1994 Men’s Freestyle World Cup. Our focus is on the athlete experience with a strong emphasis placed on the care and comfort of the athletes, coaches and officials. Millennium Place is a world-class venue complete with an on-site food centre, physiotherapy clinic and the Coast Edmonton East Hotel attached to the facility via pedway.

There will be an athlete fitness area and taping, an athletes’ lounge and lounges for officials and volunteers. All registered athletes will have free access to a state-of-the-art wellness centre with free weights and cardio fitness machines, an aquatic centre with sauna, steamroom and whirlpool and WIFI Internet. There will also be plenty of opportunity to experience all that the greater Edmonton area has to offer.
