C-USA Schedule Continues22 After a perfect 8-0 mark in the non-conference slate, Memphis opened C-USA with four-straight victories on the road. The Lady Tigers are one of three league members (UCF and Rice) that play seven road games and four home matches in league play. Houston, Southern Miss and UAB each have fi ve home and six road matches while Colorado College, Marshall and SMU have six home and fi ve road matches. UTEP, Tulsa and East Carolina have seven home and four road matches. Thus far, Memphis is 6-0-0 on the road in C-USA play. 22 Memphis’ 4-0 start in conference play was the fi rst in program history and marks the third time a team has won four-straight games in league play. At 9-0-1 in C-USA, the Lady Tigers are off to the best start in C-USA play.

Weekly Awards22 Christabel Oduro was tabbed the C-USA Of-fensive Player of the Week on Oct. 24 marking the second-straight week she has taken the honors. Oduro was also placed on the TopDraw-erSoccer.com National Team of the Week. Lizzy Simonin garnered C-USA Defensive Player of the Week honors and Soccer America National Team of the Week accolades. Bailey Pembroke was recognized by CollegeSoccer360.com as a Primetime Performer of the Week.

LADY TIGERS START 17-0-122 With 17 wins on the season, the 2011 squad has tied the single-season record for wins. The squad already owns the record for wins in the regular season, besting the 2007 squad that had 14. With a win in the fi nal regular season game, the 2011 squad could set the record for the most overall wins in a season with 18. The 2007 team had 17 wins to set the record. (14 regular sea-son, three postseason)22 The 17-0-1 start to the regular season is the best start in program history and the 17-game unbeaten streak is the longest in program history. The 2011 squad holds the longest unbeaten streak of 17 games, topping the 2010 and 2007 squads that were unbeaten in 11-straight matches.

SCOUTING UAB22 UAB enters the weekend with a 5-11-1 record on the season. The Blazers are 2-6-1 in league play this season and have two games remaining due to a postponed match at East Carolin earlier this year. UAB dropped both matches this week-end, 1-0 at UCF and a 2-1 overtime loss at So. Miss on Sunday. Six of the last eight matches for UAB have been decided by one goal. 22 Tiffi ni Turpin, Carolyn Polcari and Emma Smith pace the Blazers offense with three goals each. UAB has 16 goals this season nine play-ers have tallied goals. 22 C.J. Winship has seen most of the minutes in conference play in net, but Katie Getzinger has logged nearly 700 minutes this season. Winship has posted a 1.60 goals-against average in 11 matches and collected 53 saves. Getzinger has a 2.83 goals-against average in eight matches and she has recorded 56 saves.

Inside The Series22 Memphis and UAB will clash for the 19th time on Thursday. UAB owns a 9-8-1 edge in the se-ries and will host Memphis for the fi rst time since 2008.

In that span, Memphis has 13 shutouts in the 23 matches following a loss or tie and has outscored opponents 58-9.

The Lady Ti-gers are 20-3-3 in conference road games since the 2007 season.

RECORD BOOK REWRITE22 Elise Kuhar-Pitters began her fi fth season in net for the Lady Tigers on the cusp of break-ing multiple goalkeeping records. Just seven matches into the season, Kuhar-Pitters grabbed three of the fi ve goalkeeping records at the U of M. With her third-straight shutout at Western Kentucky on Sept. 4, Kuhar-Pitters broke Isabel Birones’ record for shutouts and victories in a career. Kuhar-Pitters has 35 career shutouts and 52 victories and program-best 0.79 goals-against average. Kuhar-Pitters is also tops in minutes played and fourth in saves.

PROGRAM SECURES 175TH WIN22 Now in his 12th season as head coach, Brooks Monaghan as helped the program reach the 175 win plateau. The Lady Tigers had one 10-plus win season in the fi rst nine seasons as a program, but Memphis has won 11-plus games in each of the past eight seasons, including 2011. The Lady Tigers currently have an all-time record of 176-144-18. Some of the milestone victories for the program are listed below:

Win # Date Opponent/Result1 Sept. 13, 1995 UALR, 7-1

25 Sept. 1, 1998 Rhodes, 2-0

50 Sept. 6, 2002 Northeastern, 3-0

75 Sept. 4, 2005 Evansville, 2-1

100 Sept. 18, 2007 UT Martin, 4-1

125 Oct. 30, 2008 UAB, 2-1

150 Sept. 12, 2010 Ole Miss, 2-1

175 Oct. 21, 2010 So. Miss, 3-0

BEST OFFENSE IS A GOOD DEFENSE22 As the saying goes, the best offense is a good defense, which has certainly been a case for the U of M this season. Among 13 players that have played in the back this season, six players have accounted for 31 of Memphis’ 124 points. Nine goals and 13 assists have been posted by de-fensive players on the year. Lizzy Simonin has scored fi ve times this season and when the for-mer forward fi nds the back of the net, Memphis is 18-1-2.

Closing Time22 Memphis has scored 46 goals this season, but looking closely at the time of goals, late in games has been kind to the Lady Tigers. The U of M has scored 11 goals in the fi nal 15 minutes of play, the most among the six segments of 15 minute increments. Memphis has fi ve goals from the 1st to 15th minutes, six goals from 15th to 30th minutes, six goals from 30th to 45th min-utes, eight goals from the 45th to 60th minute and 10 goals from 60th to 75th minute.

Three’s Company22 Natalia Gomez-Junco collected a hat trick in Sunday’s 4-0 victory over Tulsa. It was the fi rst hat trick since Kylie Hayes scored three goals in a C-USA Tournament match against Southern Miss in 2007. 22 The ironic feat in Gomez-Junco’s hat trick? The reserve midfi elder/forward logged 33 min-utes in the match. 22 Other tidbits of irony: Lizzy Simonin’s penalty kick goal came in the 33rd minute. Tulsa had three saves in both the fi rst and second halves and Elise Kuhar-Pitters had three saves in the second half.

HOME FIELD ADVANTAGE22 With an unbalanced schedule this season that has Memphis playing seven road confer-ence matches, the Lady Tigers will need to continue the recent success on the home fi eld. Since 2004, Memphis is 53-17-5 at Mike Rose Soccer Complex. Under head coach Brooks Monaghan, Memphis has a 73-32-7 mark on the home turf. Year-by-year win-loss at home under Coach Monaghan is below:

Year W-L (Pct.) C-USA (Pct.)2000 6-3-0 (.667) 2-3-0 (.400)

2009 6-4-0 (.600) 3-2-0 (.600)

2010 8-1-2 (.818) 4-0-2 (.833)

2011 7-0-1 (.938) 3-0-1 (.875)

Total 73-32-7 (.683) 37-18-4 (.661)

PUNCH THE TIME CARD22 Senior Lizzy Simonin is the only Memphis player to play the full 1640 minutes this season. Eight other players have logged more than 1000 minutes this season.

AUGUST RUSH22 The U of M was sad to see the calendar fl ip past August. In 16 seasons, Memphis is 18-5-1 all-time in the month of August and is unbeaten in the last 16 matches in the month of August dating back to the 2003 season. Since their last loss in the month of August (8/31/03-Ole Miss), Memphis has outscored its opponents 57-5.

REMEMBER SEPTEMBER22 With all the success in August in the past sev-eral seasons, what has the U of M done in the month of September? In the last four seasons, including six games this season, Memphis is 25-11-0 in the month of September.

UP NEXT22 Memphis begins postseason play with the C-USA Tournament at Mike Rose Soccer Complex. Tournament play begins on Wednesday, Nov. 2 with four games at Noon, 2:30, 5:30 and 8:00 p.m. Seeding and game times for each team will be determined after league play concludes on Oct. 28. Memphis has clinched the No. 1 seed in the tournament.
