Special Guests

Senator Kirsten GillibrandOn the Foreign Relations Committee, the Senator works on national security, with an absolute focus on cyber security, empowerment of women and supporting key areas of foreign policy. The Senator was sworn in, January 2009, filling the seat of the current Secretary of State, Hillary Rodham Clinton. Senator Gillibrand has been committed to open government. When she was first elected, she pledged to bring unprecedented transparency and access to her post. She was the first member of Congress to post her official public schedule, personal financial disclosure and federal earmark requests.

Job creation and economic development have been at the core of her legislative priorities.Using her seat on the Environment and Public Works Committee, the Senator has worked to increase investment in infrastructure.

Congresswoman Carolyn Cheeks Kilpatrick

Congresswoman Kilpatrick has been appointed to the Defense Subcommittee of the Appropriations Committee. She is the first African American woman to serve on this committee in the history of our country. Now in her seventh term serving Michigan’s 13th Congressional District, Congresswoman Carolyn Cheeks Kilpatrick was appointed to the powerful U.S. House Appropriations Committee. She is the third African American woman to serve on this important committee, which authorizes spending for all levels of the federal government. Congresswoman Kilpatrick is the only Michigan member on the Appropriations Committee during the 111th Congress. The Defense bill is the largest appropriations bill in the federal government and encompasses military, defense, and intelligence agencies. Congresswoman Kilpatrick has worked to level the playing field for minority-owned media outlets and advertising firms that face discrimination from major advertisers. She has hosted forums on diversity in advertising and was a leading force in the successful effort to secure a Presidential Executive Order compelling all federal agencies to increase their contractual opportunities with minority businesses. Colleagues and other Capitol Hill observers have noted Congresswoman Kilpatrick’s leadership skills. During the 110th Congress, her peers unanimously elected her Chairwoman of the Congressional Black Caucus. Campaigns and Elections magazine identified her as one of “Five Women to Watch.”

Edie Fraser Managing Director, Chair, Diversity Practice.

Edie Fraser is Managing Director and Chair of the Diversity Practice at Diversified Search Odgers Berndtson. Edie directs the Washington Office and has worked in Washington for decades. Her knowledge of the defense and home land security interests are deep. She has experience in advancing diversity and senior level talent at corporations, organizations and government, both in the United States and internationally. Edie values the particular niche with defense contractors and is proud Diversified Search Odgers Berndtson is the top Women’s Business Enterprise in the Executive Search space. CH2MHILL is organized into three divisions: civil infrastructure, federal, and industrial. The civil infrastructure group designs and builds water and wastewater systems, airports, highways, and other transportation infrastructures. Federal services include nuclear and environmental cleanup projects and government facility operations. Major General (US Army Ret.) Pat HickersonArmy Strategic Account Manager

Pat joined CH2MHILL in May 2001 after almost thirty three years of service with the United States Army, retiring as a Major General. Her first position was in Richland, Washington with CH2MHILL Hanford Group where she served as Vice President for Human Development and Communications. Pat’s last position with the Army was Deputy Chief of Staff for Personnel, United States Army Europe and Seventh Army, Heidelberg, Germany.

Spider is based in Ergo’s Washington, D.C. office and is responsible for strategy, business development, and talent acquisition. He culminated his career as the Commanding General of the US Army Intelligence Center, developing leaders and deploying them to all organizations and units in support of the diverse missions of an Army at war. Spider’s last position with the Army was Commanding General, US Army Intelligence Center. Marks was president and CEO of Global Linguist Solutions (GLS), which provides the coalition forces and reconstruction efforts in Iraq with over 9,000 linguists fluent in Arabic, Persian Farsi, many dialects, and English.

Major General (Ret.) John R. Hawkins III, MPA-JD, President and CEO of Hawkins Solutions International, LLC and Strategic Partner of Diversified Search.

Hawk Solutions is a consultancy providing targeted human capital support at all levels for communications, government relations, counsel, services and products. In June of 2009 Hawk retired from the Army as a Major General. He has more than 32 years of experience in civilian and military Human Resource and Personnel Administration to include labor management, counseling and with numerous Federal Agencies. Prior to his selection as Director, HRPD, he served Assistant Deputy Chief of Staff for Personnel, Office, Deputy Chief of Staff (G-1) (IMA ). In that assignment, he also served as the Senior Advisor to the Army Diversity Office. General. Pinckney was designated as the Director of the Army’s Diversity Office in November of 2008. Linda leads the largest military vehicle business in the world. Shortly after joining BAE Systems, she led the acquisition of Armor Holdings Inc., effectively doubling the size of the group's operations. Prior to joining BAE Systems, she served for seven years as an Officer and Vice President of General Dynamics Corporation, where she was the President of General Dynamics Armament and Technical Products Division. Linda has also held the titles of VP, Business Development and President, General Dynamics Ordnance Systems. Linda was the first female president of the General Dynamics Corporation.

Rebekah NottinghamVP, Business Development.

Rebekah leads the Business Development team in providing innovative infrastructure and operations support solutions with an extensive understanding and anticipation of customer needs. Rebekah is an executive with

some 27-years experience in requirements development, acquisition management and program execution, Rebekah began her aerospace career as a civilian with the U.S. Army Materiel Command. Prior to joining BAE Systems, Rebekah was the Lockheed Martin Systems Integration C4I Business Development lead in Washington DC. She joined BAE Systems in February 2001.

Valerie BaldwinPresident

Valerie is the Former Assistant Secretary of the Army for Financial Management and Comptroller. Valerie was also a member of the Appropriations Committee staff of the United States House of Representatives, serving most recently as the Staff Director of the Military Construction Appropriations Subcommittee from 1996 until moving to the Military Construction Appropriations Subcommittee in 2001.

Rose WangCEO

Kathy Roth-Douquet is a noted author, advocate for military families, commentator, and a former Clinton White House and Pentagon appointee. Her book AWOL, The Unexcused Absence of America’s Upper Classes from Military Service and How It Hurts the Country was widely lauded. Her current book is How Free People Move Mountains.

Boeing is the world's largest aerospace company, the #2 maker of large commercial jets and the #2 defense contractor. Boeing has two major segments: Commercial Airplanes and Integrated Defense Systems. Through its Boeing Capital subsidiary, the company provides financing and leasing services to both commercial and military/aerospace customers. Boeing generated over $60 Billion in revenues in the last fiscal year and has over 162,000 employees.

Barbara FastMJ and SVP, Cyber Solutions for Intelligence and Security Systems, Boeing's Network and Space Systems.

Barbara organizes and leads Boeing's efforts in support of the U.S. government's Cyber Initiatives. Barbara has had significant leadership positions within the U.S. Army and the National Security Agency. Additionally she was the Intelligence Director for the Coalition Joint Task Force in Iraq. Fast joined Boeing after serving more than 30 years with the U.S. Army. In her most recent post, she held the position of U.S. Army Major General with a range of expertise in intelligence and security systems including secure information and intelligence processing, networks and data mining. 

Booz Allen provides a wide range of management consulting and technology integration services; its specialties include information technology, operations, organization and change, program management, strategy, and systems engineering. Key markets for Booz Allen include defense and national security agencies as well civil government agencies responsible for energy, finance, health, and transportation, as well as defense and national security agencies.

Jennifer HookerExecutive Recruiter.

Jennifer leads Principal and Partner level searches across every segment of Booz Allen. Previously, Jennifer was a Senior Associate in the Global Communications and Media Practice for Heidrick & Struggles. Prior to joining Heidrick & Struggles, Jennifer was with Professionalink, a boutique consulting firm where she led consulting services.

Lucy Jebavy,Cisco Systems, Strategic Account Manager.

Lucy joined Cisco in 2007 as the Strategic Account Manager for the Army. She is responsible for business development and is focused on the senior leadership of the Army. Cisco Army Solutions includes network infrastructure, security, wireless, and management tools to help you enhance home station operations. She is active in numerous organizations.

Center for Naval AnalysesCNA is a non-profit research organization that operates the Center for Naval Analyses and the Institute for Public Research. Through innovative analysis, CNA provides public sector organizations with the tools to tackle complex problems.

Sherri GoodmanSenior Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary of CNA.

In addition to her role as Vice President & General Counsel, Sherri serves as Executive Director of the Military Advisory Board for CNA's National Security and the Threat of Climate Change project. From 1993-2001 Sherri was Deputy Undersecretary of Defense (Environmental Security), serving as the Chief Environmental, Safety, and Occupational Health Officer for the Department of Defense. From 1987-90, Sherri served on the staff of the Senate Armed Services Committee.

On September 23, 2009 EDS began going to market as HP Enterprise Services. The name change marks the next major step in a year-long integration of EDS into HP. HP ES is focused on business and government organizations of all sizes. In addition to enterprise services, its portfolio includes servers, storage, software, networking and technology services.

Vice Admiral A. Patricia TraceyVice President, Industry Development, Department of Defense.

Pat was the senior ranking woman officer in the United States Military, and the first woman in the U.S. Navy to achieve the rank of Vice Admiral. She held the positions of Chief of Naval Education and Training (CNET) (1996-98), Deputy Assistant Secretary of Defense for Military Personnel Policy (1998-2001) and Director of Navy Staff from 2001 until her retirement.                          

                                                                                                            General Dynamics is the Pentagon's fourth largest prime contractor pulling in $29.3 billion in revenues in its last fiscal year.  General Dynamics operates in four areas: Information Systems & Technology (command and control systems), Marine Systems (warships and nuclear submarines), Combat Systems (tanks, amphibious assault vehicles, and munitions), and Aerospace (business jets).                       

Phebe Novakovic Senior Vice President, Planning and Development.

Phebe joined General Dynamics in May 2001 as director of strategic planning and development and was named staff vice president - strategic planning in May 2002. Previously Novakovic was special assistant to the Secretary and Deputy Secretary of Defense, and had been a deputy associate director of the Office of Management and Budget.                                                              

Hewlett-Packard has a comprehensive portfolio of hardware, software, and services. Its products include personal computers, servers, storage devices, printers, and networking equipment. The company's service unit provides IT and business process outsourcing, application development and management, consulting, systems integration, and other technology services. HP's software products include enterprise IT management, information management, business intelligence, and carrier-grade communications applications. HP has over 300,000 employees and accrued over $118 Billion in Revenues in the last fiscal year.

Nicki WattsPractice Principal, Department of Homeland Security.

Nicki is the Practice Principal for Department of Homeland Security and Department of Defense agencies, Federal Consulting and Integration, HP Enterprise Services. She manages the business, personnel and delivery of consulting services to customers throughout the Federal government and has been with HP for ten years. Ms. Watts served 24 years in the U.S. Air Force, attaining the rank of Full Colonel.

Michelle ColemanHuman Resources Manager, Americas HR Global Operations.

Michelle is the Human Resources Manager providing HR Generalist support to the Corporate Legal/Government Affairs, HP Financial Services, Global Supply Chain Services, and Global Business Services groups in the HP Global Functions organization. Previously, Michelle served as the Human Resources Manager for the U.S. Public Sector sub-region within HP TSG Americas and prior to that was the HR Manager for the Federal Region of Compaq Global Services.

ITT has three primary segments: defense electronics (combat radios, night vision devices, airborne electronic warfare systems), fluid technology (pumps, mixers, heat exchangers, and valves for water and wastewater systems), and motion and flow control (connectors, boat pumps, shock absorbers, friction pads for communication and transportation applications). ITT brought in over $11 Billion dollars in its last fiscal year and has a staff of over 40,000 employees.

Lisa Simeon, HR Director, ITT Defense.

Lisa has been with ITT since 2001. Before Lisa joined the company she performed a variety of Senior Human Resources roles for Expedior and Kinderhook. Lisa’s recent experience is in Acquisition Integrations, Policy and Employee Handbook Development, Performance Management Systems Implementation, Leadership Development/Succession Planning Program Design and Planning.

Rosalind Walker-Lewis, ITT Space Systems, Rochester.

Rosalind G. Walker-Lewis has worked in the Defense Industry for 26 years (GE-Aerospace, Martin Marietta, Lockheed Martin and ITT) in various functional capacities and leadership roles in Operations, Quality and Supply Chain.   Within ITT Space Systems Division, Rosalind's focus has been that of continuous improvement and operational excellence across the Value Center as a certified Master Black Belt / Lean Master and Project Lead.

Dr. Claudia Randolph, Vice President of ITT’s Advanced Engineering & Sciences Business.

Dr. Randolph is responsible for directing all aspects of the NSTA (National Security Technology Applications) business unit including performance, strategy, leadership and customer relations. Dr. Randolph has also worked within the company as a Senior Scientist and Manager of the Special Projects Department. Dr. Randolph joined ITT in 1988, prior to joining ITT, she was a National Research Council Post Doctoral Fellow at the Naval Research Laboratory.

Jacobs Engineering Group provides professional, technical, and construction services for the industrial, commercial, and government sectors. It provides a wide range of services including project design and engineering, construction, operations and maintenance, and consultation. Jacobs has over a 43,000 employees and in the last fiscal year, had $11.2 billion dollars revenue.

Barbara M. PriceFAIA Vice President, DOD Programs for Jacobs Global Buildings, North America (GBNA)

She specializes in military projects; has received numerous commendations including the National SAME URBAN MEDAL for most notable and eminent contributions to military architecture. Additionally she earner a Fellowship in the American Institute of Architects for advancing the practice of architecture through military works. Barbara has led design efforts for more than 40 Defense Department projects, including some of the most significant military projects in the past 30 years.

Gabriele M. MackVP Business Diversity, Office of Government Relations.

In this role Gabriele works with internal teams and clients to promote outreach activities, the development of MWDBE alliances and teaming relationships, and economic development initiatives that lead to increasing workforce diversity and MWDBE utilization. Prior to joining Jacobs 15 years ago, Gabriele worked in the public sector developing and managing economic development programs for minority and women owned businesses, including contract compliance, outreach and employment and training programs.

L-1 develops face, finger, and iris recognition technologies used for protecting and securing personal identities and assets, with a focus on the federal, civil, criminal, commercial, border, and management markets. L-1 provides technology products through the Identity Solutions segment, while it offers enrollment, consulting, training, and other IT services through its Services segment.

Penny EastmanVice President of Government Affairs.

In this role Penny works with Congress and Executive Branch agencies on issues of concern to L-1. Her Focus is on Homeland Security, Defense and Appropriations. Before joining L-1, Penny was with Mayer Brown, the 7th largest firm in the world. While at the firm Penny represented numerous clients before Congress and Executive Branch agencies including health care, homeland security, legal reform, tax and appropriations

Lanmark provides the full range of Information Technology Services, Telecommunications Solutions, Program Management Oversight, and Administrative Support to clients in the Federal government and commercial sectors.

Lani HayCEO Lanmark Technologies

Lani has grown LMT from a one-woman consulting firm to a highly regarded, employee oriented, multi-million dollar enterprise Prior to forming LMT, Lani honorably served the United States as a Naval Intelligence Officer and an Aviator. Additionally, Lani has served as a Force Protection/Anti-terrorism Officer, Top Secret Control Officer, Security Manager, Foreign Attaché Liaison Officer for the Chief of Naval Operations, and as the Deputy Director for Training Development at the Navy and Marine Corps Intelligence Training Center. Carol DiBattisteSenior Vice President of Privacy, Security, Compliance and Government Affairs.

She will represent LexisNexis on privacy matters, oversee LexisNexis security policies and programs, manage the company's audit program for compliance with privacy, security, and related regulatory requirements, and will oversee LexisNexis strategy and activities in the area of government affairs. Carol has held executive positions in both the private and public sectors, including: General Counsel and Chief Privacy Officer, ChoicePoint; Deputy Administrator, Transportation Security Administration, and Partner at the Law Firm of Holland & Knight. Carol also served 20 years on active duty in the United States Air Force and served as the Under Secretary of the Air Force where she was responsible for 710,000 individuals and a budget of over $70 billion.  

The MITRE Corporation is a not-for-profit organization chartered to work in the public interest. MITRE’s expertise is in systems engineering, information technology, operational concepts, and enterprise modernization. MITRE has approximately 7,000 employees and saw revenues of 1.1 Billion in the last fiscal year.

Patricia (Trish) L. CarboneTechnical Director.

Trish currently leads over 400 people in technologies related to information and knowledge management, human language technology, software engineering, artificial intelligence, enterprise architecture, and distributed systems. Previously, she was an Associate Technical Director of the Center for Innovative Computing and Informatics, also at MITRE. Trish’s interests are in the area of data mining, data warehousing, intelligent databases, data mediation, data consistency, active databases, and expert database systems.

Raytheon provides technical, scientific and professional services for defense, federal and commercial customers worldwide. The business specializes in Mission Support, integrated training solutions, counter-proliferation and counter-terrorism, base and range operations and customized engineering services. Raytheon has approximately 73,000 employees and saw revenues of $23.1 Billion in the last fiscal year. RTSC provides technical, scientific and professional services for defense, federal and commercial customers worldwide. The business specializes in Mission Support, integrated training solutions, counter-proliferation and counter-terrorism, base and range operations and customized engineering services.

Sandy GillespieVP, Mission Support/Homeland Security

In this role, Gillespie has management responsibility for top-line growth, overall program performance and financial and operations management for the product line. She is an extended member of the RTSC Leadership

Team serving as chair for the Executive Diversity Council as well as the Environmental, Health & Safety Executive Council. Sandra has more than 23 years of experience in technical services and information technology for defense and civil markets.

Sharon DennyVP, Strategy.

Sharon is responsible for implementation of the RTSC strategy across the business areas and cross business teams, development of new business models that leverage and extend RTSC’s core capabilities, and establishing and strengthening relationships across Raytheon. Previously, Sharon was the Director of Competitive Analysis. She joined Raytheon in 1998 as Director of International Strategy. Prior to this position, she was the Editor of Defense News.

Della Y. WilliamsDirector, Talent Acquisition, Talent Management and Organizational Effectiveness.

She is responsible for leading RTSC’s strategic talent management and staffing efforts, including the migration of the recruitment and staffing function from a highly decentralized structure to a centralized shared service. Della leads the human resources review process, succession planning and organizational effectiveness initiatives. Della is also a part of the company's diversity council. Williams brings more than 19 years of experience as a strategic business partner and accomplished human resources professional, prior to joining Raytheon she was the director of global talent acquisition and retention for Delta Airlines

Jennifer works with SAIC's Infrastructure, Logistics and Product Solutions Group (ILPSG) where she leads the Group's business development team in identifying, capturing and bidding new competitive task orders and large strategic procurements with new and existing clients. Prior to joining SAIC, Jennifer was Vice President and Deputy Director of Marketing and Sales at SRA International Inc. She was also an Area Vice President of Federal Sales for Dell Inc. Jennifer has also held executive business development and management positions during a 20-year career with Lockheed Martin Corp.

Brigadier General, US Army (Ret) Barbara DoorninkSVP-Operations Manager for Ji Logistics & Transportation Solutions of the Logistics & Engineering Solutions Business Unit.

Barbara Joined SAIC in 2005, she is challenged with oversight of Transportation & Engineering solutions divisions and also has the responsibility of bringing integrated solutions for logistics to the Department of Defense (DOD) customer base as well as the opportunity to support the logistics and fielding for FCS; support to the US DOT and DLA. In January of 2004, prior to joining SAIC, Barbara was the Vice President of Operations for IntelliTrans, a company focused on supply chain support through technology to the rail industry.

Sun-Micro is the leading maker of UNIX-based servers used to power corporate computer networks and Web sites; it also makes workstation computers and disk- and tape-based storage systems. Its software portfolio includes application server, database management, office productivity, and network management applications. The company also developed Java, a cross-platform programming language. Sun Micro agreed to be acquired by Oracle for about $7.4 billion in 2009.

Thales USA Defense & Security, Inc. focuses primarily on marketing Thales technologies and services to the Departments of Defense and Homeland Security, state and local government entities and industry partners. Thales brought in revenues of $17.8 billion in the last fiscal year.

Veronique Silverman VP, Corporate Affairs.

Her current responsibilities include leading the establishment of a Special Security Agreement with the DoD for Thales’ Defense activities. Veronique has over 25 years of legal and Human Resource experience with Thales USA during which she held the positions of Vice President and General Counsel and then head of Corporate Human Resources and Ethics Officer for the U.S. Veronique Silverman is currently the Vice President Corporate Affairs for Thales USA Defense & Security, Inc. based in Arlington, Virginia. Her current responsibilities include leading the establishment of a Special Security Agreement with the DoD for Thales’ Defense activities. Veronique began her career at Coudert Brothers, a large international law firm in New York City.

Maura M. FoxDirector General - Thales University.

Before joining Thales, Maura spent 6 years as Principal with Booz Allen. She also spent ten years at Thompson CSY as the Director of Business Development. Earlier, Maura spent three years as a Senior Engineer with Northrop and two years as an Engineer with NASA Goddard (EER consulting support)

United Technologies Corporation UT has some 223,100 employees, $58.7  billion (2008 revenue) and $7.7 billion sales to the U.S. Government. (2008). Sikorsky, a subsidiary of United Technologies Corp, is a world leader in design and manufacture of advanced commercial, industrial and military helicopters. In the next few years Sikorsky is on track to double its revenues by introducing several new products and services for the U.S. and international military and civilian marketplaces.

Teresa Carleton, VP, Mission Systems Design & Integration (Sikorsky). At Sikorsky, Teresa is a functional manager of the 400-member Avionics Electronics Engineering Department, also called Avionics Systems Integration. Her department is responsible for all the displays, flight management and communication systems used by pilots in the cockpit. Teresa left Boeing after 22 years and joined UTC in February 2003; Teresa took the leap and became Sikorsky's Director of Avionic Systems Integration.
