January 3, 2012 To Whom It May Concern: Zoe has contributed her substantial artistic talents to many various programs for the Mimbres Region Arts Council over numerous years. A highlight is her success as lead artist for the Youth Mural Program. Guiding children ages 6-19, her teaching skills combined with her artistic talent has produced beautiful mixed media murals throughout the county. Zoe developed a very effective teacher workshop called "Writing to be Seen: Integrating the Visual Arts and the Written Word” following her participation in the Kennedy Center Partners in Education Program. Participating educators were enthusiastic about the material and how they could use it to more effectively teach their students after attending Zoe's workshop. The MRAC presents one-hour interactive workshops for students of all ages in elementary schools in two rural school districts through our Fine Arts Friday's program. Zoe taught hundreds of students grades 4-5 creative dance through this program over the years of her involvement. She simultaneously illustrated how movement can be an effective classroom tool to both inspire and to reinforce concepts. Zoe is one of those amazingly creative individuals who shares her art - dance, clay sculpture, painting - with the community through many channels. She is able to connect with the very young and the aged through her craft and has left her influence on hundreds through her generous outreach, volunteering and teaching. Sincerely, Faye McCalmont Executive Director
