A photography exhibition with photos from ErajAsadullaev and Stefan Erber

Public opening with an opportunity to meet the photographers on
Saturday 18th of May 2013 from 10am onwards
The exhibition will run until Sunday 21st July 2013
But there is more to the exhibition than beautiful pictures. The photos document the reality of rural life
- both positive and negative. The vast majority of small-holder farmers are women, as men migrate to
neighboring countries for work. The photographs depict rural people in their daily life - in the field,
harvesting crops, in the market or at home with their families.
The public exhibition follows on from a private viewing on Friday the 15th of March at the Hyatt
Regency Hotel, Dushanbe. The Hyatt exhibition attracted more than 100 influential people including
government officials; representatives of embassies; and individuals from International Development
Organizations, the private sector; women’s producer groups; local NGOs and the media. The event
provided an opportunity for people from different sectors to come together and talk about rural live,
agriculture and how the agrarian reform process can benefit small-holder farmers.
Oxfam and GIZ are excited to be opening up the exhibition to everybody in Dushanbe – we hope to

The Best Camping Club in Town
We are all looking forward to a Hashy Summer in The Dush and various campsites during weekends
in the warm season. If we can find enough Hashers and friends to join us!
Come to Sunny Khujand! Memorial Day weekend 24-26 May, really is a lovely time to be at
LakeKairrakum; people should come if they can and, as gentle inducement, the water is warm, the
beach is beautiful, the weather is perfect and the swimming will be great. There is a beach place with
apricot trees, as well as tapchans and a latrine.In the evening we’ll have a campfire under the stars.
Please bring your own tents, water, food, firewood etc. Campsite is in a nice area, enclosed and gated,
and the guy who runs it is very helpful. We can grill there, and it is off the beaten track, so not as
crowded as camp sites nearer to the city. Cost will be 50TJS per tent per night, or maybe per car per
night if we haggle about the price.
Come and join us! Children and dogs are especially welcome and, as usual, we might even find a few
spaces for non-Hashers, as long as you promise not to be stand-offish!
It’s not far! Only about 4.5 hours; now the roads have been fixed and the tunnels are working, the
journey is much quicker than it used to be. We will arrange a convoy from Dushanbe and arrive at the
edge of Khujand as a group, so that Nightwalker can meet lead us to the beach together, or we could
provide GPS grids for the adventurous. I suppose we should try to generate a map as well, for the
inevitable late comers.

find enough people for a good sized group, the Dushanbe Hash House Harriers Camping Club will get
out, into the wonderful fresh air to hold our annual Memorial Day Camp-Out, returning to Dushanbe
before nightfall on Sunday 26 May.
We will camp for two nights, at a site next to beautiful Lake Kairrakum, near to the city of Khujand,
about seven hours drive from Dushanbe.
Nominal roll is now open; if you would like to join us, please respond to this email asap. Dogs and
children are especially welcome.
Accommodation will be in your own tents only. No other accommodation is available. Food may be
cooked in small groups or individually; join in! This will be your own responsibility.

tow of Panjakent and witness the colourful fountains near the Ismail Somoni Monument.

2. Knowledge Management
Further promote knowledge management by drafting or finalizing sectoral documents and
reports such as the Country Programme Recommendation and Plans of Action as well as through
orientation and training programmes targeted to Government authorities. Ensure exchange of
knowledge, information, experience or lessons learned; provides solid technical
recommendations on major programme directions and on introduction of new initiatives in the
country.
Strengthen partnership with the stakeholders, including knowledge institutions strengthened to
further understanding of barriers to and opportunities for advancing priorities and build capacity
of Government, counterparts and all other education actors (parents, communities, teachers,
education administrators and planners).
3. Rights-Based Projects through Results-Based Approach
Promote the quality of rights-based Education programming through participation in the
formulation of programme goals, and approaches. Bring synergy and added value to sectoral or
programme management processes using a results-based management approach to planning and
design, implementation, monitoring and evaluation. Exploit efficiently partnerships on specific
issues and themes of regional concernin order to formulate common advocacy position, develop
policy guidance and influence allocation of resources on behalf of education.
4. Sectoral Work Plan Development, Implementation, and Monitoring
Takes shared responsibility for the development of the sectoral work plan which reflects
UNICEF contribution as part of the coordinated support of external partners to national efforts to
achieve the MDGs 2 and 3; and technical decisions as well as for project management,
implementation and monitoring of assigned project/sectoral activity, in compliance with the
defined project strategies and approaches, emphasizing the principles of gender equality and
strategies for gender mainstreaming.
5. Programme Delivery, Evaluation and Reporting
Ensure programme, sectoral or inter-sectoral efficiency and delivery through a rigorous and
transparent approach to evaluation, with an emphasis on gender-disaggregated data.
Participation in major evaluation exercises, programme reviews and annual sector review
meetings with government counterparts with involvement of all stakeholders. Ensure the
preparation of annual Education sector status reports with contribution of all major partners.
6. Promotion of UNICEF’s Global Goals
Promote the organization goals of UNICEF through advocacy and active engagement in
communication, networking and participation at every opportunity inside and outside UNICEF,
leveraging the strength of UNICEF mission, goals and programmes.

7. UNICEF and Government Accountability
Coordinates with Operations and Supply staff on supply and non-supply assistance activities
ensuring proper and timely UNICEF and Government and all other implementing partners
accountability: and to orientate and train Government and UNICEF implementing partners in
UNICEF supply and non-supply policies and procedures. Certifies disbursements of funds,
monitors and submits financial status reports to management in compliance with the regulations
and guidelines.
8. Communication, Collaboration, Networking and Partnership
• Ensure exchange of information, experience, help identify new strategies and courses of action to
accelerate/improve delivery of services and achieve Education programme requirements and
objectives. Conduct field visits to monitor programmes and collect information. Conduct
periodic programme reviews with Government counterparts and other partners.
• Collaborate with Communication and Programme Communication groups to ensure development
of effective communication materials and strategies to support advocacy and social mobilization
efforts..
• Support coordination with Regional Advisers and HQ Officers. Collaborate with other
Programme colleagues to ensure the integration of the project/sectoralprogramme with other
sectors.
• Collaborate with the Operations and Supply Sections and Government authorities to establish
and maintain sound internal controls supportive of the Education projects planning and
implementation, to coordinate financial and supply management requirements as well as to
ensure accountability.
• Interact with Government and other partners, NGOs, UN and bilateral agencies in the different
stages of Education programme/project implementation to follow up on agreements and
recommendations. Provide technical support and guidance on appropriate technical, financial
and institutional capacity building measures to achieve Education programme goals.
Qualifications:
Advanced university degree in one or more of the disciplines relevant to the following areas:
Education; Primary Education, or a Social Sciences fields relevant to international development
assistance Five years of progressively professional work experience at national level in field
programmes relevant to Education programmes; work with international organizations desirable.
Experience working in the UN or other international development organization is an asset.
Experience in national level development assistance is an asset. Experience with addressing gender

Cesvi has been present in Tajikistan since 2001 when it started working mainly on water and
environmental hygiene issues. After 5 years of post-emergency activities, Cesvi has started to move
through development actions in order to insure long term sustainability for rural populations.
Nowadays Cesvi has a main office in Dushanbe and is implementing several projects in the country.
The 3 main sectors are: 1) environmental protection and NRM management (including wash), 2)
rural development (agriculture development, value chains, access to markets); and 3) support to
business development (handicraft, fair-trade).
Cesvi has been selected as partner by GIZ for the implementation of a component of its Private
Sector Development Program. In this framework Cesvi will be responsible to support a public charity
institution (PCI) active in the gems & jewellery sector in the Pamir Region.
The overall goal of this program, promoted by German and British Governments, is to increase
economic growth in rural areas in an inclusive manner
The expected results of Cesvi component are:
1. The PCI is able to develop and produce a jewellery collection according to international
quality standards and design
2. The jewellery collection developed and produced by the PCI is successfully marketed in
the Fair-Trade shops in Italy, Germany, Switzerland, and Austria
3. The jewellery collection developed and produced by the PCI is successfully marketed in
Tajikistan.
In order to achieve the above mentioned results Cesvi will collaborate with its international partners
and consultants (Fair-trade importers, designers), already involved in previous projects.
Job Description
The collaboration will start in June 2012. It will last 11 months, with an initial contract of 6 months.
The main duty station will be Khorog, with missions to Dushanbe.
The PM/Specialist will be responsible for:
- detailed planning and direct coordination of all project activities, with the support of an
International GIZ Project Manager,
He/she will check and make sure the projects’ activities fulfil the scheduled objectives, especially:
a) coordinating and monitoring the implementation of the activities,
b) ensuring that such activities meet with the Country regulations and the donor’s
guidelines,
c) ensuring that the Organization’s procedures and regulations are accomplished (Security
Manual, Overseas Offices Administration Manual, Logistics Manual, Visibility and
Communication Manual).
He/She will be in charge to supervise the administrative aspects of the project (accounting,
budgeting, procurement, financial reporting) with the support of the Country Administrative Office
and He/she will be responsible of all the documents of the project.
He/She will keep an efficient organization of the office and the staff.
He/She will recognize and report any necessary variation, extension or revision of the original
project.
The PM/specialist reports directly to Cesvi Country Representative in Tajikistan, Cesvi Country
Administrator and works in close coordination and collaboration with the GIZ International Project
