UPDATE

As you have probably heard, the diocese has now given permission to begin celebrating public Masses in a safe way. We are now

working hard at both churches to assure that when we open all of our parishioners are

safe. Masks will be required as will reservations. Reservations are necessary to ensure social distancing. Please watch the website and the bulletin for more updates.

Ambassador Program During this pandemic and with all the disruption and uncertainty it has brought into our lives and routine – we want you to know that we are here for you! In an effort to communicate this more effectively, the Woburn Catholic Collaborative (WCC) is implementing several communication strategies that will enable us to keep in touch with you and vise versa. One method, which is already underway, is the Ambassador Program. This program is simply an attempt to reach out to all parishioners by phone. The priests and staff of the WCC want to know how you are doing. Can they help you in any way? Can they simply pray with you? Staff and volunteers are making these calls. If you do not recognize a caller’s number, it could be one them. Through this process, we are finding out that contact information needs to be updated. To update our records, please click here to update your contact information. You can also call the office directly at 781-933-4130 to make any necessary changes. If you would like to volunteer to participate in the Ambassador Program, please contact either

Deacon Ed at [email protected] or Chris Hatton at [email protected].

Pentecost Sunday

The sixth grade class took a tour of the different parts of the machinery feeding the paper, then printing, sorting, stuffing, folding, counting and bundling. It was noisy and impressive. If one thing went wrong, or got off track, the whole process was shut down, the necessary repair made and then started up again. Everything had to work together if the paper was to get out on time. Many different gifts and ministries enable the Church to spread the Gospel. The Holy Spirit gives to each of us the virtue, grace and abilities we need to fulfill our part of the mission. No one is overlooked or missed. Through the Holy Spirit, we are joined with the whole communion of saints to form one Body, the Body of Christ. When one part of the Church is off track, or is missing, the overall mission suffers. The Spirit once again comes to heal, forgive, nourish and strengthen the Body and once again, restores unity and strength. Do not make the mistake of thinking that the mission of the Church is found in the grand and public work of the Church. It is found in the quiet moments of consoling our neighbor, or working at the soup kitchen, or donating clothes to Good Will or helping a young child master math. The Spirit calls us to real people, in real situations, in our homes and within our reach. Use your gifts and keep the mission going!

By David Richburg –St. Barbara Parishioner

How has COVID 19 impacted you?

I will start by saying that my wife Kathy and I are blessed to still be employed when so many are not. But this does not mean that we are living without anxiety. What used to be basic tasks like going to the grocery store now become something a little bit uneasy. Worry about our kids, friends, those who are sick and suffering is always there. However I do see everyday examples of positive uplifting actions of people helping people with just simple small acts of kindness.

What do you miss most about your parish?

I really miss attending, with all of you, and fully participating at Sunday Mass and receiving the Eucharist. Watching Mass via TV or live streaming is something that really helps get through the pandemic, but it is just not the same as spending time at Mass with our fellow parishioners. I also miss faith formation like the Men’s Group, RCIA and until the coronavirus hit during Lent the Conversion series.

How do you keep in touch with others?

It is great that we live in a time where technology and the internet allow for video forms of communication. Facetime, Zoom, Teams, allow me to see and talk with my family, friends and coworkers. Being able to see someone’s face with expressions and body language is such a big difference than only hearing a voice over the phone. At work we make it a priority to try and use video chats as part of our daily routine to keep that personal touch and help ease the isolation we all feel.

How has your faith helped you?

Faith in God’s love and giving my anxiety and burdens to him is what really helps me. Spending time in prayer before I start my day and using daily gospel reflections (dailycatholicgospel.com) helps me each day.

What words of encouragement can you offer?

This will end! Ask Jesus to walk with you each day. I believe as with any hardship we will come back stronger.

FaithShare

Each week a staff member or parishioner from the Woburn Catholic Collaborative will be reflecting on what it is like to live in a pandemic and how they keep in touch with others. Writers will share what they miss most

about their parish, how faith helps them and close with words of encouragement for us. If you would like to participate in this weekly column, please email Chris Hatton, Director of Youth and Evangelization, Father Leo

Lynch Youth Ministry Program @ [email protected]

FOOD PANTRY

The following items are needed for the Food Pantry: Kids snacks, Beef-a-Roni, ravioli, Spaghetti-O's, beef

stew, canned chicken, soups, jelly, Pop Tarts, Gatorade, Granola bars, packs or boxes of cookies, cans of mixed fruit, apple sauce, sugar, evaporated milk, cake mixes, frosting, mayo, ketchup, mustard, juice, 1lb bag of reg/

decaf coffee or tea, non-refrigerated milk, vegetable oil, salad dressing, paper goods, dish detergent, hand

soap and laundry detergent. With the children now out of school for the remainder of the school year it is imperative that we acknowledge this fact and give as generously as possible. There will be two large clear bins with covers (weighted, so they don't blow away) on either side of the depot (garage)

to accept your donations.

ONLINE GIVING vs. BILL PAY GIVING

Do you know the difference between Online Giving and Bill Pay Giving? Both can: • be made from the comfort of your home. • only be generated per your instruction. • save you a trip to the post office (and the cost of

postage). • ensure your payment is on time every time. The only difference is in the way your payment is made. Online Giving is a direct account to account electronic form of payment. Bill Pay Giving is a paper check generated from your bank and mailed directly to the intended recipient.
