President’s Comments
Hi Folks, spring has finally arrived and with it a bit more sun...Yeah!!
We are in the last month of our Chapter Season with two big events
ahead. At the April Social Hour at the Doubletree, we will welcome
BG Buck Marr USAF (ret) who is the MOAA HQ liaison for the
Northwest region. Buck has worked with several WMMOA Past
Presidents during the MOAA “Storming the Hill” program each
April. His visit will be like that of an old friend. Buck will be sharing
information on the directions and focus of MOAA National over the
next several years, and giving us his thoughts on how our Chapter is
doing and sharing ideas for continued growth and recruitment. If you
are available, please come out and meet Buck on Friday night, April
13th.
Your Board is hard at work putting the finishing touches on another
great WMOAA Annual Banquet. Special guest, U of M President
Seth Bodnar and his wife, Dr. Chelsea Bodnar, will be with us. Seth
will share his vision for the University in the coming years as well as
some of his military background. We will be recognizing and
celebrating all our Cold War Veterans who served during the period
1945 through 1991. You will have a photo session with President
Bodnar and a presentation of Commemorative Cold War Victory
Ribbons for all who served. As in the past years, we are encouraging
all who can to wear their uniforms to do so if you choose and your
ribbons/medals/badge if you are attending in “mufti”. Dress is
“business comfortable”. In addition, we encourage you to invite a
friend, military or not, to hear President Bodnar’s address and to
“peer behind the curtain” of who and what Western Montana
Military Officers Association is and represents. We have much to
celebrate this year and are looking forward to seeing you all on April
13th and especially on Saturday, April 28th. Make your reservations
today. There is a form on the last page of this newsletter. Also, be
watching for information about our summer activities as details
become available.

WMMOA is saddened by the loss of one of our oldest and dearest members,
Ty Robison. Ty passed away on March 27th at the age of 102 in Missoula
with his son John and daughter-in-law, Anita at his side. He was born Jan-
uary 25, 1916 in Kalispell, MT and he graduated from Flathead County High
School in 1933. He married Jean Fritz and they raised two son, John and
Laird. Ty’s career began with the US Border Patrol and then the US Navy
in the Pacific, earning the rank of LT before returning home to Missoula and
the U of M. He received a juris doctorate degree in 1948 and in 1954, he joined Jim Garlington
and Sherman Lohn in forming the present law firm of Garlington, Lohn, & Robinson. Ty retired
in 1986 to become “Of Counsel”. His community involvements were numerous and he was
honored for so many things in his life time. He was a continuing member of WMMOA for years
