As much as innovative design, fl air and style are standard with our homes, there is absolutely nothing at all that is standard about a Peter Stannard Home. We are a family owned and run Western Australian business with over 40 years experience building a range of prestigious homes of exceptional quality. Just part of the difference is in our dedicated personal attention, and the highest level of care we take in every aspect of creating every individual home.

Avery contemporaryfusion of elementsmakes up this newfamily home near theriver in Mt Pleasant.

Owners Steve and Ali have beenthrough the process of buildingenough times — this is their sixth— to know when they’ve got itright.

“Building is something we loveto do,” said Ali.

“We have a lot of input intoeach home we build. I have to saythat this experience has beenespecially good. DevriteConstructions was fantastic to dealwith, and we’re so pleased withthe end result.”

With three children —– 13year-old twin boys and an 11-yearold daughter — the couple neededto factor in the changing needs ofa growing family.

The intelligent design belies the

narrowness of the block — just10m wide at the front — and hascreated enough space to suit boththe individual and the collectiveneeds of the whole family.

A modern rendered facadefeatures a timber-decked entranceand a feature stacked stone wall byArchistone. Inside, an engineeredfloor of spotted gum adds warmthto the long hallway, which has awall of glass on one side.

On the other side of the hall, doors slide open to a lounge room,

which turns out to be a theatrethanks to a drop-down screen anddiscreet electronics.

A feature is the striking metallicwallpaper Ali found at Wall Candyin Fremantle.

Glazed doors and the extensiveuse of glass avoid the potentialdarkness and boxiness of long,

narrow homes. A study openingoff the hall enjoys an outlookthrough its glass door and acrossthe hall out to a pebble courtyardand waterwall.

The main bedroom, featuringmore Wall Candy wallpaper, hasmirror robes and a fully tiledensuite with a freestanding oval

bath. “I love the idea of afreestanding bath, so we designedthe bathroom around it,”explained Ali.

Two round bench basins sit ontop of the chocolate-colouredstone benchtops, and there is ashower and separate toilet.

Even the laundry space isgenerous, including plenty of

storage and a tiled powder room.Expansive open-plan

entertaining and living areas takeup the rear of the home.

An ultra-stylish galley kitchenhas white stone benchtops anddark teak cupboards,stainless-steel appliances and glasssplashbacks.

To allow the cook to be part ofthe action, an extra-long islandbench, filled with self-closingdrawers, overlooks the dining andliving area, which haswhite-on-white 1960s-inspiredwallpaper.

Bi-fold doors open the area tothe pool and alfresco terrace, which has a stainless-steel outdoorkitchen. Artificial turf ensuresyear-round green with nomaintenance.

The children’s area is upstairs, with three generous bedrooms offa long landing.

An ultra-stylish galley kitchen is part of the expansive open plan entertaining and living areas.

Making a clever combination

The owners needed to factor in thechanging needs of a growing family.
