Dear fellow Orthopaedic surgeons,

9th Deformity Correction Course (DCC) is designed for surgeons with basic knowledge fracture fixatIon, and some experience in the use of Ilizarov external fixator. The course program will deal with both acute and gradual correction of limb deformities, using different typesof internal and external fixators. Based on the positive feedback fromparticipants for the 8th LDCC, we decided to continue with the 9th DCC in2020.

Due to increasing interest in limb deformity correction surgery among thejunior surgeons, we decided to split the 9th DCC into “Basic DeformityCorrection Course (BDCC)”, “Advanced Deformity Correction Course (ADCC)”and Silent Mentor Cadaveric Workshop (SMCW). We will have 6 sawboneworkshops for the BDCC, and 4 sawbone workshops for the ADCC. With twoparticipants practising on one sawbone model, and a total of 10 practicalsets, we can only accept 40 participants for the sawbone workshops. ForSMCW, we can only accept 16 participants. We plan to cover five surgicalprocedures over a period of about 6 hours, excluding the breaks

In order to maximise the learning experience during the course session, wewould like to encourage participants of sawbone workshop to bring alongyour laptop computer to perform pre-operative planning for the TaylorSpatial Frame software. We will also send a soft copy of course workbook sothat you will be able to familiarise yourself the sawbone deformities. Wehope that by cutting down on lecture sessions and focusing more onpractical sessions, participants will be able to gain more practicalexperience, and will be more confident in managing patients with variousforms of limb deformity. Thank you.

Yours truly,Professor Dr Saw AikCourse chairman9th Deformity Correction Course 2020
