FAQ

HOW DOES THIS “CONVENTION” THING WORK?Exhibitors display their products and demonstrate services to inform and entertain the show guests; many publishers will also offer products for purchase. Comic book and collectible retailers offer their merchandise for purchase. You can find everything from new comics to back issues, original art, statues and busts, merchandise, toys, games, DVDs and more. If you can imagine it, someone’s got it for sale. Media guests and comic professionals come out to meet the public, put their artwork on display, sell prints, sketches, autographs or other collectibles and interact with the fans. You can meet them in person in their respective celebrity and artists alley areas.

HOW DO I FIND ARTISTS, VENDORS,CELEBS…RESTROOMS?No GPS required - we’ve got a map of the show floor available in this program guide. The map will list where exhibitor, retailer, artist and celebrity areas are located and yes…even the bathrooms! You can even download our Wizard Cons App for FREE for iOS and Android phones. The App is complete with floor maps!

WHAT’S THIS WRISTBAND SYSTEM ALL ABOUT?It’s all about security. Make sure you check in at ticket registrationand you will receive a wristband for access to the show. You’ll needit to come and go throughout the weekend, because the venue’ssecurity personnel won’t admit you in without it.

WHERE IS THE FIRST AID?Please be careful, but if you do get hurt, contact a Wizard World staff member at the registration booths and they can direct you to the First Aid station.

CAN I TAKE PICTURES AND/OR VIDEOS?You are welcome to take pictures and videos at our guests’ discretion;however, please note that all photography and recording is prohibitedduring the panels and screenings in the programming rooms. Also, please note that guests may or may not pose for photographs withfans. Guests have a right to their privacy and if they ask not to havetheir picture taken, please respect their wishes.

WILL I BE ON CAMERA?By entering the convention, you consent to be photographed, filmed and/or otherwise recorded by Wizard World to use your likeness for promotional purposes and waive all rights to any claims for payment of royalties in connection with any exhibition, televising, or other publication of material.

WILL GUESTS SIGN AUTOGRAPHS?Wizard World Comic Con will feature a number of guests that will sign autographs in the Celebrity Area. Guests will sign most of your items (officially licensed DVDs, comics, toys, and other collectibles) at their discretion. Please note that most guests charge for autographs and guests may or may not pose for photographs with fans.

HOW TO MAXIMIZE YOUR FUN!• Be cool and polite to everyone: other show guests, exhibitors, comic pros, media celebs, volunteers, staff, etc.

• Get involved. Check out the programming, rap about comics with other fanboys, rock your costumes proudly, browse the retailers to look for that must-have collectible and try a little bit of everything to get the full Comic Con experience!

• Be prepared. Make sure you’ve got a sketchbook if there’s an artist you want to hit up, bring extra cash if you want to have a big shopping day, wear comfortable shoes, ’cuz you’ll be on your feet all day, and make sure you’ve got the essentials like water, gum, lip balm, whatever meds you need and especially hand sanitizer—it’s the best way to avoid that “convention cough” during cold and flu season!

LOST AND FOUND?Lost and found will be at the Registration Booths. If you find anything left behind by fellow convention goers, please hand it into a Wizard World staff member at ticket registration.

ANTI-HARASSMENT POLICY:• Wizard World is committed to providing a safe and fun experience for all attendees, exhibitors, guests and staff. As such, all are entitled to respectful treatment at Wizard World conventions and associated events. Wizard World will not tolerate inappropriate behavior of any kind, including but not limited to harassment because of age, disability, marital status, race or color, national origin, religion, sex, sexual orientation or gender identity.

• Any threatening behavior with the intent to harass, annoy, alarm, abuse, torment or embarrass another is unacceptable and grounds for removal from the convention without refund. If unacceptable behavior continues upon being escorted from the show floor, local authorities will be contacted and criminal charges may follow.

• Anyone who sees or feels that their experience is being compromised due to unacceptable or questionable behavior is encouraged to speak with Wizard World staff immediately with any concerns for appropriate action. Wizard World staff can be located in the Registration area and throughout the show floor in black polo shirts marked STAFF.

WEAPONS POLICY:In order to assure that everyone who visits Wizard World has a safe and enjoyable time, we have decided to institute a weapons policy, effective immediately.

• All weapons must be inspected by a member of our security staff and tagged prior to entry.

• Actual firearms of any sort are not allowed.

• Simulated weapons for cosplay purposes will be allowed, but must be non-firing.

• Bladed weapons must be affixed in their sheaths so that they can not be removed.

• If you are found with an untagged weapon inside the show, you will be escorted to security to have your weapon inspected and tagged.

• If you have a weapon that does not pass inspection, you will not be able to enter the show. If you are not sure about a weapon, or have a weapon that does not meet these policies, please leave it at home in order to assure entrance.

Thank you in advance for complying with this policy, and we look forward to seeing you at Wizard World!

FRIDAY 9/204:00 – 4:45PM THE SECRETS TO UNLOCKING CREATIVITYAs an artist, writer, actor, musician or creator, there is nothing more challenging than the development of the creative process. Is art birthed from the spontaneous or is it a result of a carefully crafted rhythm and structure? In this panel, artist Dave Aikins (SpongeBob Squarepants, Dora the Explorer,) artist/director Rob Prior (Heavy Metal; Spawn the Impaler) and writer/artist Thom Zahler (Love and Capes) describe how to overcome creative obstacles, how to problem solve, and what are the keys to unleashing creativity. Moderated by Tony Kim (ROOM E161)

5:00 – 5:45PM HOW TO PITCH UCREATECOMICS MILLION DOLLAR FUND Everyone can pitch UcreateComics. You can be an artist and writer, but you don't have to be. The structure of a pitch is a multi-layered process but your idea is the core. Join Douglas Duncan, CEO, and Donald Lanouette, Founder & Creative Director, of UcreateComics Inc. as they discuss all the practical aspects of the UcreateComics pitching process. What you must have; such as elevator pitch, a synopsis, character breakdowns, and more. Get insights into some of the best ways to present an idea and some simple ways to understand intellectual property. Find out how you can build your idea's fan momentum to win a pitch competition, and the details of a comic book development deal with UcreateComics. For more information visit: www.ucreatecomics.com (ROOM E161)

6:00 – 6:45PM BREAKING AND STAYING IN COMICSCome listen to industry veterans Ron Garney (X-Men; Spider-Man, Captain America,) Humberto Ramos (Amazing Spider-Man; Impulse; Crimson,) and Darick Robertson (HAPPY!; Transmetropolitan; The Boys) as they tell the pure, unvarnished truth about what artists and writers need to do to break into the comics biz! If you are looking to BREAK IN then this Q&A chat you won’t want to miss! (ROOM E161)

7:00 – 7:45PM COSTUMES + PLAYING = COSPLAY! SO WHAT DOES THAT ACTUALLY MEAN? Join Wizard World’s Damian Beurer and an assembly of top-notch cosplayers, including Ivy Doomkitty, Eric “The Smoke” Moran, Michael Knightmage and others who will tell you everything you need to know about dressing up in costumes and going out in public. From wardrobe malfunctions to crazy fans to how to construct your own costumes and even how to go to the bathroom (you know, in costume), this cosplay squad will give you the inside skinny on the ultimate in spandex fandom. We’ll share photos, take questions from the audience, and hopefully inspire you to join in! (ROOM E161)

8:00 - 10:00PM WIZARD WORLD ARTIST PRO AM Come join host Rob Prior for the Artist Pro Am! Professional artists and amateur artists go head-to-head in this paper-covered, ink-induced, color-splattering scrawl. Two will enter the ‘ring’ and only two will exit... Stay through to the end when one Pro and one Am will be selected to win a BIG CASH PRIZE! Additional prizes will be given throughout the night and food and drinks will be available for purchase. Free admission with your Wizard World wristband. The Artist Pro Am will be held at the Terrace Ballroom Foyer / Second Floor. Greater Columbus Convention Center (400 N High St, Columbus, OH 43215)

Free entry with Wizard World Wristband. Must be 21+ to enter. (The Garage Bar and Grill, 147 Vine St, Columbus, OH 43215)

SATURDAY 9/21 11:00 – 11:45AM FIREFLY WITH RON GLASS AND SUMMER GLAUEven series cancelation can’t keep a great sci-fi-western story down. Join Ron Glass and Summer Glau from the fan beloved series in this special Q&A. After celebrating the show’s 10th Anniversary, find out what the stars have in store for the next ten. (TERRACE BALLROOM / SECOND FLOOR)

11:00 – 11:45AM KICKSTARTING YOUR COMICSThe Sun Bros published their first two comic books--Chinatown and Apocalypse Man--through a tremendously successful Kickstarter campaign, bringing in over $25,000 from more than 600 backers in just 31 days. the coming apocalypse. Will the hungry dead feast on them or will the survivors live to see another day?Written by Director/Writer Michael G.
