Wizard, Wizard, may I come The pupils stand behind the starting line next to each other. On the other side of the gym stands the “wizard”. The children ask the “wizard”: “Wizard, wizard, may we come? Wizard: Yes you may! No you may not. Pupils: How many steps? Wizard: Five baby steps. The children move as many steps as they are allowed to go and they have to listen carefully how they should move. Example: giant steps, big steps, baby steps, spider steps, cow steps… The children are also allowed to invent new steps. (They can use a lot of words they have learned in English – like: loud steps, frog steps, princess steps, mouse steps, thunder steps,…) If they have no ideas, I show them picture cards with animals they know, as a help. When the children have reached the other side, so they can touch the wizard, the game is over and another child is the wizard. aims: English: The pupils get an access to a creative and independent use of the English language. They also repeat a lot of words. PE: The children get to know different ways of moving. (Entdecken der Bewegungsmöglichkeiten des Körpers, Bewegungen mit dem ganzen Körper) Teacher’s language: This is our starting line. Stand behind the starting line next to each other. Who wants to be the wizard? Wizard, you stand on the other side of the gym. Pupils, you ask: “Wizard, wizard, may we come?” Say it after me. Wizard, you answer: “Yes you may!” Or: “Yes you may not!” Pupils, if you are allowed to come, you ask: “How many steps?” Wizard, how many steps are they allowed to go? Baby steps or giant steps? Pupils, move two giant steps!
