Handwriting and Keyboarding are essential skills for children to be successful, confident communicators in today’s world. When writing and typing become fluent and automatic, children can focus less on how they are writing, and more on what they are writing.
Our easy-to-teach, easy-to-learn keyboarding curriculum provides a simplified approach to learning letter location and correct finger use so children can type quickly, efficiently, and without looking down at the keyboard.

The Standards for the Production & Presentation of Writing were created to help guide your instruction to make sure that children are learning to write and type in a developmental order that promotes success. The standards were developed by a team of occupational therapists, teachers, and field experts based on current research about handwriting, keyboarding, and technology use in early education classrooms.

Pre-Keyboarding SkillsJump Into Keyboarding contains Student Activities designed to teach unique pre-keyboarding skills, such as mousing, drag and drop, and the structure of a keyboard. These activities are built into the first 6–10 weeks of each grade level, serving as an introduction to keyboarding in the lower grades, and as a review in the upper grades. Grades K–2 begin at week 1 with Jump Into Keyboarding activities by default, but the educator can choose to skip it. Grades 3–5 default to skip Jump Into Keyboarding, but educators can choose to include it.
To set or remove the skip Jump Into Keyboarding setting, go to Classroom or Student Settings.
