Download the VPN manager for windwos

I prefer the portable version.

Then start the software.

Now we have to set the VPN with the Raspberry IP address. The admin password is “sdomotica” (you can change it)

Now we can connect to VPN server and set user, etc.

The software will ask for update. I don’t do it.

THis is the main windows for the VPN where there are some settings already done. For e.g. you can see the starting host for dynamic DNS. I have insert http://cambiami.softether.net

Of course we must change it, otherwise you cannot reach your raspberry from outside.

1 Manage Virtual Hub (in this submenu, you can manage VPN users)

There are two default users, sdomotica e test. I suggest to edit them

2 Properties (here you can edit the VPN administrator password)

3 Dynamic DNS .

A while ago dyndns was free of charge and working very well. There are others free of charge but don’t work without problems. Tsukuba Univeristy with his SoftEther implement a free of charge dynamic dns. Sdomotica gateway ha sas default the host http://cambiami.softether.net “cambiami” in Italian means “change me “ because you have to change it with yours host name.

Of course you can disable this service.

4 VPN Azure Setting.

If is your Adsl connection beyond a firewall or is into a natted VPN and don’t have public IP, it’s quite impossibile outside access to your home network. The Italian providers as Fastweb or Wind have these type of connection.

VPN Azure Cloud make it possibile.

Vpn Azure, without any router configurations make available to any Windows computers to establish a VPN connection trough https tunnels. The default host is cambiami.vpnazure.net

Below an example of windows 7 configuration.

It’s a SSTP VPN (evolution of PPTP) , the only limit, is that DON’T IS AVIABLE for IOS or Android. Thus if have you a natted connection don’t ask me how connect with NON WINDOWS DEVICES.

But, if have you a public IP as usually available you can set a L2TP Vpn, that is present on the mobile devices.

5 Ipsec /L2TP

The default server is L2TP encrypted with secret.

Below an example for iPhone. You need user (as point 1 of this manual) and secret.

Please remember of set the ports UDP (500, 4500 and 1701) on port forwarding of your router with the IP address of your Raspberry.
