    Catholic Campaign for Human Development

    Please be generous in this week’s special collection for the Catholic Campaign for Human Development. In the United States, one in six people lives in poverty. With this collection, you support pro-grams that address the causes of poverty and provide a sustainable future for those struggling across the country. In addition, 25% of the funds we collect will remain in our diocese to fund local antipoverty projects. Please prayerfully consider how you can support this collection and work on the margins. More information about the CCHD can be found at www.usccb.org/cchd/collection. Thanksgiving Holiday Office Hours The church office will close at noon on Wednesday, November 25th, and reopen at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 1st. Thanksgiving Mass Schedule On Thanksgiving Day, there will be Mass at Holy Rosary at 9:00 a.m., and at St. Mary’s at 11:30 a.m. There will also be Mass on Friday, November 27th at 12:00 noon.

    Hospitality Team Members Needed If you are in the Hospitality Team Ministry, your assistance is requested to serve at weekend Masses. Please call the parish office so that a schedule can be created. If you are interested in joining this ministry, likewise call the office at 979-567-3667. Thank you. Religious Education Our religious education program for grades 1st through 12th will follow a different format this year due to COVID-19. Our next youth Mass will be on December 2nd at 6:00 p.m. Please come celebrate God’s love for us in the Liturgy. Student registration will take place after this Mass. 2020-2021 Confirmation Candidate & Parent Meeting There will be an important informational meeting for parents and eligible students to be confirmed in 2021 on Sunday, De-cember 6th after Mass in the PAC. We will go over require-ments and expectations to prepare for the Sacrament of Confir-mation. Students should have attended the Pre-Confirmation class here at St. Mary’s last year or have a letter from the reli-gious education program he/she attended last year. If you have any questions you can contact Lauren Plachy at 979-406-0002. Catholic Corner-Feast of Christ the King This passage from Matthew might be considered a list of essen-tial duties for the follower of Christ. The Gospel points out that Jesus speaks about the “nations” who gather, so we can see this as both an individual and communal response to God. As indi-viduals and as a community, are we able to see Christ in the needy, the least, the poorest and the forgotten? Our yes, to ac-cepting the Kingdom depends on our willingness to see and respond to them as we would to Christ. KJT Breakfast with Santa Cancelled Due to the pandemic, St. Benedict KJT Society 100 WILL NOT be holding their annual Breakfast with Santa on Decem-ber 5th, 2020. We look forward to seeing all of you NEXT YEAR! Food for Families Food Drive The St. Mary’s Parish Hall will be the host again this year for the KBTX Food for Families Food Drive benefiting the Brazos Valley Food Bank. The drive will be Wednesday, December 2nd from 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Donations of non-perishable items will be accepted. KBTX will be on site throughout the day filming. Volunteers are needed, and are asked to please report to the Parish Hall on that day. Volunteers are requested to wear a mask. Thank you. EIM WORKSHOP (during pandemic) EIM Policies require all clergy, religious, seminarians, employ-ees and adult volunteers serving in a ministry requiring EIM compliance to submit an EIM Application for Ministry (one-time only) and attend an EIM Workshop at least once every three years. New employees and new volunteers currently ac-tive in ministry should complete the EIM Application at www.eappsdb.com/austin as a First Time Applicant. Limited EIM Workshops resumed in August for new applicants (or no prior EIM Workshop attendance) and are typically for members of the host parish/school community only at this time; contact your parish/school EIM site administrator for workshop status at your location. In the meantime, temporary online EIM train-ing is available at www.austindiocese.org/workshop for persons

    needing to update their compliance; the training page includes instructions on how to login to your EIM account to find infor-mation you will need to provide in order to receive credit for completing the training. For more information, call (512) 949-2447. Private, Stay at Home Retreat with Fr. Albert Haase Would you like to make a private retreat with Franciscan Father Albert Haase in the privacy of your own home? Are you will-ing to commit to 20 minutes of prayer for five days? Cedar-brake Catholic Retreat Center is now offering “My Private Re-treat.” Every day you will have a 30-minute private Skype con-versation with Father Haase, chaplain of Cedarbrake. He will give you a Scripture passage or two to reflect upon and report back the following day. This retreat can be helpful for those who are discerning the next step in life, who might be strug-gling with a personal issue, or who simply want to deepen their relationship with Jesus. Monday to Friday, 30 minutes each day. Register online www.cedarbrake.org and then call the of-fice at (254) 780-2436 to set up Update to Mass Attendance Information St. Mary’s and Holy Rosary encourage the faithful, 10 years of age and older, that enter the parish, to wear face masks. We will also continue to keep 6 feet of distance between families. Our parishes have returned to pre-pandemic Mass schedules. Those who are showing symptoms of COVID-19, those with underlying health conditions making them vulnerable, and those who live with or care for anyone in the previous two cate-gories are encouraged to remain at home and join the church community through livestream. Livestream Masses will be on Sundays at 8:00 am on the Holy Rosary Facebook Page and 10:00 am on the St. Mary’s Facebook Page. Attention Hospitality Teams All Hospitality Team Members must request that all parishion-ers, as they enter the building, put on a mask for Mass. There are masks available on the table for those that do not have one. Thank you for your assistance in this matter. Spiritual Communion “Jesus, truly present in the Most Blessed Sacrament, I love You above all things and I desire to possess You within my soul. Since I am unable at this moment to receive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart. I embrace You as being already there and unite myself wholly to you. Never permit me to be separated from You. Amen.” -St. Alphonsus Ligouri

    Thanksgiving Day Prayer

    O God, when I have food, help me to remember the hungry; When I have work, help me to remember the jobless;

    When I have a home, help me to remember those who have no home at all;

    When I am without pain, help me to remember those who suf-fer,

    And remembering, help me to destroy my complacency; bestir my compassion, and be concerned enough to help;

    By word and deed, those who cry out for what we take for granted. Amen.
