Redesigning building and HVAC systems in addition to restructuring mechanical, electrical and plumbing elements has given the student center a renewed sense of comfort. The existing concrete structure also presented many challenges for design. By developing the glass “Pavilion” at the front entry of the existing building, SG&A was able to expand the building footprint and improve vertical building circulation inviting students to utilize all floors within the new facility. The fusion of progressive building architecture, interior practicality and environmental branding has provided Wentworth with a greater sense of community which can be seen within the student’s every day activities all around the building. Welcome to Flanagan Campus Center at Beatty Hall. Our newly renovated 3 story campus center has been completely redesigned to deliver new gathering spaces, recreational and student activity facilities as well as a new dining hall, servery and kitchen to our student body and the entire Wentworth community. This building transformation adds light and connectivity which creates a new vibrancy and heightened activity level inside and outside Beatty Hall. One walk around the new Flanagan Campus Center, and you will find students working, constructing, collaborating and socializing. The Flanagan Campus Center has not only invigorated the students’ sense of community, but also their enthusiasm for learning and active participation within our dynamic academic community. Integrating environmental branding elements into the campus center, Wentworth’s core values are brought to the forefront of the student experience. These graphics are visible on the exterior media wall and throughout all three levels of the building’s interior.

The Flanagan Campus Center serves as the primary facility for activity and community on campus. Embracing WIT’s tradition of highly involved students, the space now delivers a full service dinning hall and servery, WIRE radio station, fitness center, campus bookstore, information desk, breakout study space, library, and recreation rooms.

WIT students who interned with SG&A’s “Learning Lab” program participated in first hand industry exPerience by attending visioning, planning, CM + CA phase meetings, creating a project information kiosk, writing a regular project blog during planning and construction, and otherwise accessing the resources of a full service, leading-edge design firm.

Located at the main entrance, the stairway and elevator quickly connects students to all three levels of the building, providing a welcoming, two way entry from the quadrangle, academic facilities and WIT community. Center yourself in this thriving collective of student organizations, administration, technology and resources. it’s all here.

Step down into the lower level which features WIT’s information desk, TV and media screens that features student organizations and events as well as five way access to all other facilities. The rear cafeteria seating space brings natural sunlight into a clear, open room - perfect for studying, events and dining.

The new dining hall offers a full menu of domestic and international selections, grab and go station and a café space to accommodate students on an evening schedule. Additional seating behind the servery doubles as an urban classroom space after hours and can cater to all types of events.
