When is a new registration required?

When can an existing registration be edited?

Typo in voter information:Name, DOB, DL#, address, etc.

Add missing information provided later:Email, phone#, middle name/initial

If there is an existing registration, no need to create a new one for merging later!

Voter registration still required!

Includes instructions for differences between states


Federal Post Card Application

Usable by any voter

Both a registration and absentee ballot request

Photo ID and proof of residence required if not UOCAVA



Registration process does not change in WisVote

Varied goals – register likely “supporters” for a party, cause, or awareness

May be unaware of how Wisconsin is different

Open registrations can be entered during Late Registration

Must be postmarked before end of Open Registration

If postmarked during Late Registration, cannot be processedVoter must appear in-person or register on Election Day

When Late is chosen, Source defaults to Clerks Office

Remember have the Ineligible list available during Late Registration!Choosing the appropriate period is important for statistics reporting


Entering Late Registrations

Late Registrants must be given an EL-133

Can be generated in WisVoteFrom the Voter Record

PDF version available on request

EL-133 is not available on WEC website!

Election Day Registrations


Can only be entered on or after Election Day

Must be entered in WisVote pollbook associatedwith reporting unit where vote was cast

If EDRs are entered as Open/Late registrationsthey must be reentered in the poll book!

Registration process the same other than starting point

Can update existing voter records, active MyVote pendingapplications, or create new records

All EDRs will appear in the EDR section of the poll bookwhere they were entered



All Registration Entry data except POR will autofill

Registration period will be EDR and is locked

Registration Source set to Polling Place, no other options



Incomplete or incorrect EDRs must still be entered!

If documents later determined to be insufficient or formIs illegible, use Incomplete Application checkbox

If voter address is outside jurisdiction, use Address Outside Jurisdiction checkbox

Incomplete Application box overrides ALL required fields
