The Asia-Ready Exposure Programme (AEP) is a
youth development programme by the National
Youth Council (NYC) that empowers youth to be
Asia-ready by providing opportunities for
meaningful exposure to ASEAN member states,
China and India (ACI), and strengthening their
competencies in building friendships and networks
within the region.
Specifically, the AEP aims to:

• Increase awareness of the economic growth trajectories and opportunities in ACI markets.
• Broaden personal growth opportunities and youth ACI networks.
The AEP is co-organised and co-funded by NYC and its partners from the Institutes of Higher Learning (IHLs), Youth Sector Organisations (YSOs) and corporates.

There are 3 mandatory phases that AEP

AEP supports various forms of projects such as:

Interested in the programme? Great! Do check
that you fulfill the following criteria in order to be
eligible for the AEP:

• Be a Singapore Citizen / Singapore Permanent Resident (PR) aged 15 to 35 years old, who is either currently studying in an Institute of Higher Learning (IHL) or has graduated from an IHL for not more than 3 years;
• Has not been funded under the AEP before*; and
• Fulfil any other criteria that are specific to the AEP project.
*Exceptions will be made for select group of youth
who will benefit from additional support.

WISE Wash in Southeast Asia
INTRODUCTION
WISE is a non-profit organisation that envision a Southeast
Asia that is equitable and sustainable for all, focusing on
water, sanitation, hygiene (WASH) as well as waste
management. WISE also collaborate on causes related to
public health, inclusion, education, and climate change.
WISE runs community development, behavior change,
capacity building and research projects in Indonesia,
Cambodia and Singapore.
You will have the opportunity to work with team members
from Indonesia and Cambodia where WISE’s projects are
based. You will also have the chance to work with volunteers
from most of Southeast Asia and beyond.
WISE will work with you to design a work scope that aligns
with your interests, motivations and availability. Training can
be provided if you are interested in data visualisation, and
feedback will be provided if you wish to practice writing or
graphic design skills.

Brief job description:
• Communicate weekly with team members on your progress on
assigned projects and tasks.
• Compile a handbook of non-profit related laws and regulations in
Indonesia, Cambodia and Singapore.
• Conduct needs analysis of tools that WISE should use for
communications, project management, etc.
• Ensure that teams function effectively and efficiently by organising
meetings, keeping team workspaces updated, as well as
assigning and tracking tasks.
• Determine what apps and tools WISE should use for project
management, communication and so on.

• Create a problem statement database for behaviour change
projects with a list of open data sets from Southeast Asia.
• Brainstorm and/or start a data visualisation project about social
and/or environmental issues in Southeast Asia.
• Design training material on topics such as poverty and
development, programme planning, water, sanitation, hygiene,
and waste management.
• Develop curriculum for an English club in Indonesia.
• Carry out literature review on waste management in Indonesia.
• Create a Wiki for WISE’s waste management and behaviour
change frameworks research.
• Conduct research on migrant workers issues.
• Create a behaviour change problem statement database and data
visualisations about social and/or environmental issues in
Southeast Asia.

INTRODUCTION
Asia has experienced an exponential economic boom over
the last decade, emerging as one of the world’s largest
regional economy with great influence over the next phase of
globalisation. Riding on Asia’s growing importance in the
world economy, have you wondered how can Singapore
better position ourselves to maximise our future economic
growth? Or are you interested to find out how to better
prepare yourself to unlock the opportunities in the region?
The Ministry of Trade and Industry (MTI) and National Youth
Council (NYC) have come together to curate a 4-session fully
funded programme to better support youths with ambition to
explore regional opportunities and be better prepared for the
future.
PROGRAMME DETAILS
Through the journey, you will be able to gain:
• Greater awareness and understanding on the benefits of
global engagement and trade to Singapore; and
• Insights into regional market economies, opportunities
and skills required to stay relevant.
You will have the opportunity to learn more about Regional
Economies from trade officers and gain insights from industry
speakers through the webinars. You will also be working in
teams, guided by a mentor, to research more on the country/
region of interest and present your content pieces at the third
session of the programme. Additional time is to be factored in
between the official schedule to work on the group project.

Session 3: Understanding Regional Trade Ties
Wed, 26 Jan 2022, 7.00pm to 8.30pm Hear from MTI country officers on the nature of regional trade work with the various
markets, overview of their respective market opportunities and what keep them going.
Session 4: Asia’s Vibrant Economy
Sat, 29 Jan 2022, 10.30am to 12.00pm Ever wonder how is it like working and/or living in one of the countries within ASEAN,
China and India? Hear more from established industry leaders on their personal
journeys and insights on the regional markets.
*Subject to changes, Participants may be required to spend some time outside of the
official schedule and sessions to work on the group project.

Applicants should be:
• A current student or fresh graduate (less than 3 years) from a
local University or Polytechnic.
• Be a Singapore Citizen or PR.
