The Badgers defeated then-no. 15 ranked Marquette, 5-1, in an exhibition on Aug. 15 and will look to complete the trifecta when green Bay comes to visit on Wednesday. 2 DO IT ALL WALLS: Through seven matches, Cara Walls has been the Badgers’ unanimous MVP. The junior has tallied seven goals (16 points) and is on pace to lead Wisconsin in goals and points for the third-consecutive season. 3 THE REIGN OF ROSE: After a seven-point week, freshman Rose Lavelle was tabbed as the Big Ten’s Co-Freshman of the Week. Lavelle is just the third Badgers player to earn the honor since the conference debuted the award in 2009, joining current teammate, Cara Walls (2011) and 2012 grad, Monica Lam-Feist (2009). 4 ROAD WARRIORS: For the first time since 2004, the Badgers began their season with four-consecutive road contests, a tough stretch for any team but especially tough for a squad as youthful as the UW. Wisconsin has fared well despite the challenges they’ve faced, earning a 4-0-1 road mark so far. The Badgers will again hit the road on Sunday, beginning a three-game road swing to kickoff the conference slate. seRIes Vs. GReeN BAY Wednesday’s match marks the 17th meeting between the Badgers and the Phoenix, dating back to 1987.

u UW owns a perfect 16-0-0 mark against green Bay and has not conceded a goal to the Phoenix during the Paula Wilkins era.

u The Badgers are 10-0-0 in games played in Madison, and have allowed just one goal from the Phoenix in their last seven visits to the McClimon Complex.

NOtes FROM uW’s lAst GAMeWIs 3, MIlW 0 - 9/15/13 - Mcclimon complex

uThe Badgers took a huge step toward winning the state of Wisconsin for the first time in the Paula Wilkins era with their shutout of Milwaukee on Sun-day.

uUW’s shutout was the first of the season as the match was just UW’s second home game. The win marked the first home victory of 2013.

uBadgers scored match's first goal six minutes in and did not allow more than three shots per period from Panthers

uKodee Williams recorded second goal of season, scoring on a through ball from Rose lavelle just six minutes into the match.

uRose lavelle earned a pair of assists in the win.

uLavelle tallied her second assist on Marisa Kresge’s third goal in as many games during the 14th minute of action. Alexandra Heller also recorded an assist on the corner kick from Lavelle.

ucara Walls recorded her seventh goal in as many games, earning the score in the 74th minute and putting the bow on the Badgers’ first home win of the season.

ugK Genevieve Richard earned her first career shutout on Sunday, recording a single save.

BIG teN BOARd u Just a single Big Ten team, Iowa, remains perfect

on the season, while a pair of squads boast unbeaten records.

u The Badgers are among five conference teams with just a single loss and are among nine Big Ten teams with a win streak of two games or more heading into the first week of conference play.

u Penn State (no. 9), Michigan (no. 15) and Wisconsin (no. 24) represent the conference in the latest nSCAA/Continental Tire Division I national poll. Ohio State, Wisconsin and Minnesota are receiving votes.

u UW ranks in the top-5 among all Big Ten teams in goals (21), goals per games (3.00) and assists per game (2.71).

u As of Sept. 15, the Big Ten earned an aver-age RPI of 78.7, ranking fourth among the Power 7 Conferences.

WhAt’s tReNdING So far this season there have been some dramatic trends that seem to influence the outcomes of many of the UW’s contests: • The Badgers have been outshot twice this season. UW is 2-0-0 when being outshot and 2-1-1 when outshooting their opponent. • Although their is a slight disadvantage in shots taken, the Badgers have scored first in two of their five regular season games in 2013. Wisconsin has a reputation for taking a lot of shots but this year’s team seems to be valuing better looks at goal rather than just firing whenever the opportunity presents itself.

• To the surprise of no one, Cara Walls has recorded scores in seven of the Badgers’ seven games this season. Walls, UW’s leader in points during each of the last two seasons, did her work late in UW’s last contest against Milwaukee, earning a goal in the 74th minute.

• The Badgers are unbeaten when scoring first, boasting a 4-0-0 record. Wilkins has stressed earning the lead and sustaining it and the team has shifted its focus to remaining defensively strong after tallying a couple of scores.

• Rose Lavelle is enjoying a three-match scoring streak that includes at least two goals or two assists in each match during the streak. The Big Ten Co-Freshman of the Week has tallied at least a point in five of UW’s seven games.

WIlKINs’ WAY u Paula Wilkins (182-65-29) enters her seventh

season at the helm of the Badgers in 2013. After guid-ing UW to its third nCAA tournament appearance in the last four seasons in 2012, the five-time Big Ten Coach of the Year looks to lead her young bunch to another postseason berth this year.

u Wilkins ranks among the top-20 active Division I coaches in wins and win percentage (.710).

POll POsItION u Following their 2-0-0 week, which included the

team’s first shutout of 2013 with a 3-0 victory over Milwaukee on Sunday, the Badgers reappeared in the nSCAA rankings, coming in at no. 24.

u Wisconsin is also ranked no. 24 in Top Drawer Soccer’s updated top-25.

seNIOR stAtus Alev Kelter and nicole La Petina serve as the Badgers’ elderstatesmen in 2013. Although neither saw any game action nor suited up for the Badgers last season, the duo is providing UW with valuable leadership and experience from their respective positions.

u Kelter, who spent last season exhausting her eli-gibility with the UW women’s hockey team, represents the vocal leader of the group. Kelter has tallied four points (2g, 2A) this season for the Badgers, leading UW to a season-opening win at UConn with an assist.

u La Petina, who sat out all of last season due to injury, saw limited minutes this weekend but figures to play a larger role once her endurance and stamina are back at 100 percent.

u La Petina and Kelter represent the Big Ten’s small-est senior class.

u La Petina and Kelter also represent the Big Ten’s most inexperienced senior class, as UW ranks dead last in returning minutes played.

u The Badgers boast 26 underclassmen, 18 of which are sophomores and juniors. UW is optimistic about the future as this year’s team is guaranteed two more years together as a group.

hIt the ROAd jAcK u After starting the season with four-straight road

contests for the first time in half a decade, the Badgers again will be away from home to start Big Ten play.

u Including its match against Loyola-Chicago last Wed., Sept. 11, Wisconsin will have played four of its six matches on the road following their visit to Michigan State on Sept. 29.
