WHO WE AREOur team is Wisconsin born, raised, and educated. We grew up together in the Greater Milwaukee area and fostered our entrepreneurial spirit while roommates at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Our combined degrees in Chemical Engineer-ing and Business, coupled with the desire to make a difference in the lives of others, spurred the creation of Wisconsin Hemp Scientific. Our company was accepted into the Wisconsin Hemp Pilot Program in April, 2018, when we began processing and test-ing for Wisconsin farmers. In August, 2018, we moved into our current facility in Sussex, WI where we perform all operations and continue to develop new CBD products and services. We are grateful to have connected with many amazing individuals and organizations who share a similar passion for hemp and CBD, and look forward to future growth in the industry.

WHAT WE DOWe specialize in three different domains: CBD Products, Hemp Extraction, and Cannabinoid Testing. Offering all three gives us insight not readily available to some hemp companies. Can-nabinoid testing gives us immediate feedback on our extractions and ensures quality control in our products, while also providing a valuable service to local growers. CBD extraction (versus im-porting pre-made CBD) allows us to offer a variety of products at competitive prices, plus formulating our own CBD products gives us a deeper understanding of desirable extraction conditions.

WHAT IS CBD?

CBD is a naturally occurring compound found in the cannabis (hemp) plant. CBD is an abbreviation for ‘cannabidiol’ and is one of many cannabinoids found in the plant. It will not get you high and is legal to consume/possess in Wisconsin. More and more people are using CBD on a daily basis to alleviate a wide variety of ailments. It is commonly ingested via tinctures/capsules/food or applied topically via lotions/oils.

Cannabinoids are a general class of compounds that interact with your body’s endocannabinoid system (ECS). This system was only recently discovered and is still being researched. The ECS is responsible for regulating many biological processes (sleep, appetite, memory, energy/metabolism to name a few). Your body has naturally occurring cannabinoids (endocannabinoids) which interact with the two ECS receptors (CB1 and CB2). CB1 is primarily found in the brain while CB2 is spread throughout the rest of the body. Cannabinoids found in cannabis are also called phytocannabinoids (from the Greek prefix ‘phyto’ meaning ‘of a plant’). These phytocannabinoid – ECS receptor interactions are what give cannabis and cannabis extracts their effects.

Many sources will say that CBD is “non-psychoactive” but a more accurate term is “non-intoxicating.” CBD influences your ECS which is spread throughout your mind and body, so to say that it does not affect your mind is technically incorrect. CBD is used to treat anxiety, depression, and other mental illnesses. However, CBD does not induce any significant mind-

altering effects like its fellow cannabinoid THC.

Products depict their CBD content in milligrams (mg). This can range anywhere from 25 mg to upwards of 2500 mg in a single tincture bottle. Of course, what is most important is the amount you are actually using in a single dose. Our recommendation for dosage is what is referred to as “uptitrating.” This is where a user starts with a small dose (e.g. 10 mg) and gradually increases the dosage until satisfying effects are observed. Typically this is done over the course of a few weeks. Doses should be measured in milligrams of CBD and not just drops. This will allow you to directly compare CBD oils of different concentrations.

The Entourage Effect

CBD in its purest form is a white crystal which is of-ten turned into a powder and is referred to as “CBD isolate.” While this may sound appealing, CBD iso-late is lacking all other remedial compounds found in the cannabis plant. The interactive synergy of all cannabis compounds (mainly cannabinoids and terpenes) has been dubbed the “Entourage Effect” which has been proven to be more curative than any single compound in isolation. This is why we are advocates for what is known as “full spectrum” CBD oil which does contain these secondary compounds.

In summary, CBD is a natural compound with immense medicinal potential that is still being understood. Our goal is to produce high-quality and effective CBD and help as many people as possible. We are excited to be a part of the Wisconsin CBD revolution.

TincturesAll of our tinctures are made with organically grown Wisconsin hemp flower extract blended with organic carrier oils. A true full-spectrum product boosted with a custom terpene blend.

Every batch is 3rd party tested for potency, pesticides, residual solvents, and microbials. Furthermore, our in-house HPLC testing offers even more confidence in formulating accurate CBD tinctures.

THC-Free TincturesEven though our full spectrum tinctures have less than 0.3% THC, failing a drug test is still possible if one takes these products frequently. This is why we have created a line of THC-free tinctures!

Our Broad Spectrum tinctures are made with a specially distilled hemp flower extract that contains most of what you find in our full spectrum exract. The dif-ference? The THC is distilled off! Therefore these tinctures still contain other cannabinoids such as CBG and CBDV. They are considered “broad” spectrum because they contain a broad variety of molecules found in the hemp plant itself, minus the THC.
