Event Summary
Wintry precipitation may develop across the mountains as early as the
pre-dawn hours on Saturday. The wintry precipitation may begin to
accumulate Saturday afternoon and then continue through Saturday
night, before changing to rain on Sunday morning. Confidence in timing
and amounts remains low.
However, confidence is increasing that significant wintry weather will
primarily be confined to North Carolina, specifically the French Broad
River valley, northern mountains, foothills, and northwest Piedmont.
Meanwhile, the trend toward cold rain continues for Upstate South
Carolina, northeast Georgia, much of southwest North Carolina
including the Little Tennessee River valley, and the southern Piedmont
of North Carolina including metro Charlotte.
Future developments in the forecast will determine if, where, and when
a Winter Storm Watch would be issued.
